My Paladin is 25.

I signed up for the same things, but my PLD is 75.

I thought about Morrigan body and Valk Fork, but decided I had (barely) more chance of getting those the hard way than any of the above.

How dead has the game become since I stopped playing (July-August 09)?

I'd be willing to wager the game is not any better or worse since you left. At least for Fenrir I have not seen a mass exodus of people. Some people have left but we've also gotten some new players. I know my social ls has had 3 new FFXI players in the past 3-4 months, and we are only about 12-14 total members. Even my Sky/Sea/ZNM shell has enlisted about 4-5 new members in the past 3 months.
