Doesn't Shantotto have Manafont and Chainspell at her disposal? If she's the final boss of that expansion chapter and they get you in a small arena with her, it might not be a pretty fight.

then again, another fight RNG can save people from that with Shadowbind if the field is something like Full Moon Fountain. That would be a fun 30 cap run, so long as they blocked off the shortcut

Holy cow. A genuine justification for buying the add-on, provided you can actually make kitty-pants out of these ($10 spent for crappy fetch quests is much less painful all around than $80 spent on doing Sky).

However, it's only justification to jobs who could otherwise use the Haidate, anyway. Me, my position is still the same as always: I don't care how awesome the augments are, I was fooled twice already, and I have to be convinced after its release that this is a genuinely good product (based on more than simply Tatsumaki Dragon Pants with augments that just so happen to be really mediocre for RDM mage pants and really really good for RDM front-lining).

And I honestly doubt that they're going to have Movement Speed +12% as one of the augments, either (that would be too flipping sweet).

Also, concerning magey-gear, as much as I dislike it, I have something to say in regards to their designs: I can't see either of the first two ever being on my person for any more than a couple of seconds at a time, anyway.

Except that 80 bucks goes to everything else you can do in game, that 10 only goes to those crappy fetch quests.

This expansion will never be worth my money, even if I could make Kitty pants +2 and use them on my Thf. I got suckered in by the first one thinking it would be some epic (toau-esque at least) extra mission line with loads of unique boss fights spread all through out the world in an ever increasingly engaging story line. Instead, I get ranks 1-6 again, only worse. I still don't have that stupid body because I can muster up enough energy to climb the tower, then grab 5 friends to basically do the fight for me since I'll be more or less useless as a melee. My only real regret will not being able to beat the crap out of that loud mouthed, pig tailed rodent. But knowing SE, they wouldn't grant us the pleasure of whoopin Shantotto anyway, it's just gonna be some random and annoying mob in the final fight instead.

Concerning Shantotto as a boss, I am afraid that you are entirely mistaken. For your own sake, you should hope that the idea was forsaken! Square-Enix seems all the more more likely to comply, but Shantotto will not let that attitude fly!

. . . in all seriousness, consider the add-ons themselves as the giant RPG cliches that they are, at least based on the track record of the first two (a most reasonable base for assumption). What was the final boss of A Crystalline Prophecy? What about the final boss for A Moogle Kupo d'Etat? Following that line of thought, Shantotto is all too obviously fitted for the next one.

What is more likely to happen, considering S-E, is that they will basically defile Shantotto's status as FFXI's magical Chuck Norris in front of all her fans. This add-on will be her "oars," per se (or "orz," more appropriately). However: these add-ons were first marketed as "what-if" scenarios for Vana'diel. Well, "what if" I never buy one? Surely it means that, for all practical purposes, it never happened (though, some purchasers of AMK and especially ACP would like to argue that those "never happened," either).

The heavy armor is pretty consistent. Ugly, but consistent.

The only thing ugly about the heavy armor is the Galea, which sticks out like a sore thumb with its cartoony proportions. I don't see how you can call the Cosolete or a fairly normal pair of cuisses ugly.

I could be wrong, but I don't think she's been shown to use Chainspell; you're likely thinking of Ajido-Marujido (which fittingly enough is Shantotto's pupil, but also a prodigy and genius.) She HAS been shown to have ridiculous power even with tier 1 spells when angered though.

6 months? PUHLEEZE took me over two years across multiple sky shells to get my haidate, quit your whining =P

As for movement speed, I'll be ecstatic if the new pieces have a movement speed augment, cuz that means I save myself the 300k+ I may have to spend for a Kirin set to merc out to some random sky shell.
