  • FFXI Multiboxing

I've spent the past three days scouring the internet and I simply cannot find a solution for my problem. I'm trying to run two clients of FFXI at the same time from one computer each on a separate screen, and have the input from one controller go to one client and the input of another controller go to the other client. This is so my friend and I can play together since his computer can't run FFXI. I'm able to run multiple clients at once using Windower, and I've got each controller working with their respective game (actually they both work with both games since I have one mapped to the controller and the other one's buttons mapped to the keyboard through XPadder), but having the non-active window accept input is the problem.

    What I've tried:
    - Using AutoHotkey: I took a script that I wrote to do this same thing for Call of Duty 4 and modified it to FFXI and tweaked with it to no avail.
    - Using Multiboxing Software: All of these are meant with WoW in mind first of course, and none of them specifically mentioned supporting FFXI.

I've bashed my head against the wall with this thing for days. Anyone have any ideas?

    Do you have a PS2 or a 360? ;>.>

      Re: FFXI Multiboxing

Sounds like you are trying to run two clients on a PC, if thats true then you could have a real interesting problem there.

You have to remember that FFXI was designed and created for the PS2 and then ported (poorly) to the PC platform. As the game itself was designed with all the assumptions that go with Full Screen Onry and Single Client software implementation there could be insurmountable issues. The two big ones I am thinking of are splitting access control of writing to the screen (multiple screens) and secondly memory management issues (multiple clients).

Sadly I have no solution for you but I'd be interested to see if it could be done though, however my gut tells me it's probably not possible due to the way the game was originally designed.
