As you probably know, the Lunar Cap can be used to place a regen buff on someone so long as another party member happens to be wearing the Sol Cap at the time. The best part is the regen buff sticks around for 1 hour even if the hat is removed. The hat itself has a 1 hour recharge timer, so in essence it's practically always available. This works out great for everyone except for the person who happens to be wearing the Sol Cap, particularly if he's the only person in the party with it.
In this case that's me. I have a Sol Cap and a Lunar Cap, and my friend has the Lunar Cap. I'm unable to buff myself with the regen effect because in order to use the Lunar Cap I have to remove the Sol Cap, which in turn causes the Lunar Cap's buff to have no effect since nobody in the party is was wearing the Sol Cap at the time of the buffing. The Sol Cap itself has the regen effect on it, but it has to be kept on the head to produce that effect (it's not an item with a castable enchantment). And honestly there are other hats I'd prefer to wear full-time.
I tried using the in-game macro to do this:
/item "Lunar Cap" <me>
/wait 2
/equip Head "Sol Cap"
My thinking was I could use the Lunar Cap, and during the casting time I'd swap in the Sol Cap so it was present for the check at the end. But this doesn't work because apparently we can't swap gear while in the process of using an item even though you can swap gear while casting a spell. Grr.
The only time my friend (the "invitee") can get the Sol Cap is if they choose to forgo receiving the mog house clock or miniature airship (which I would never ask my friends to do). As the inviter I was able to get the Sol Cap much earlier without having to sacrifice my clock or airship model options.
Has anyone with a Sol Cap figured out a way to successfully accomplish this? I jokingly told my friend that the whole point of these friendship caps was so the Lunar Cap owner could show how much of a true friend they were by donating their regen buff to their friend rather than to themselves. They aren't falling for it, though.

Eep, this is supposed to be in the "Items Q&A" forum.
Is there any way to move it there?
edit: Thanks for the move!
