  • Haaaaaave you met Omniblast?

    Hello all,

It's been a while since I've hopped on the forums and talked with everyone, but I've been here and around... Well it's not me that's really around, but aparantly someone took my Tarutaru for a trip.

The reason I knew? Well my account was charged for an amount of $52.95 from Square Enix, and brought a giant exclaimation to my head.

Why was I charged this amount when I cancelled my account at the end of June 2009? Most curious.
Upon further examination I noticed that my Tarutaru has been busy!

    First I searched on ffxiah.com. Player Search - FFXIAH.com
I noticed there were two Omniblasts. Now I know for a fact that there is only suppose to be 1 person in all of FFXI named Omniblast. So I looked into my Remora account. Omniblast - Remora - FFXIAH.com

Now if you notice that activities for all of July & August has been gone, because I cancelled my account in June, they billed my last billing on July 2009, and that was suppose to be the end of it. But my Tarutaru rose from the dead and came back to life on 9/9/09.

Now I know for a fact that I was unable to play on 9/9/09 because... well I got married on that date! Yay go me. Committed for life to another fun game...

My Tarutaru's activites soon became very suspicious! Purchasing Minnow, selling my Astral Rings x2 and my Noble's Tunic. For an obscene low price! (Well I guess it was low now, but I remember purchasing that for about 10 mil, and I usually wouldn't stand to lose that much gil on a purchase even with economies of scale in effect.) (Also WHM is my 1st 75 job, Just because I stopped using it doesn't mean I don't want to play it anymore.)

It also looked like they sold a lot of Adaman Ore on my account, they also sold a bunch of steel & gold ingots.

Anyways, after that, well soon after my Tarutaru took a trip! To the underworld! (how appropriate.) Omniblast - Hades - FFXIAH.com Got a world transfer to Hades and soon after was ... BANNED! HAHAHAHA Sucka! That'll teach you stupid GILSellers to mess around with my Tarutaru. So I must thank the citizens of Hades for banning Omniblast to prevent further GS activities and dragging my online Persona through the mud. Props for whoever GM that banned him.

My account information was not changed, and since I just noticed a charge to my account from my credit card, I called my credit card to have them back out the charges. Now I just got off the phone with SE and they said it my account was banned (which I had a hunch since activites stopped on 9/18/09). They filed a banned account report, then after I get my account back I will file a restoration report with them. In order to prevent this from occuring in the future, I plan on having my character suspended. (my first trip, well with me playing anyways, to Mordian Gaol.) That will be one strange request to whoever GM that gets it. Suspend my account to prevent further use of my name. Nice.

Thank you for reading my fun little story about my little Tarutaru. I have since gone to play another game and thus cannot dedicate my time to playing FFXI anymore. I am on Aion, on the Ariel server.

So what you mean to say is, you're LFP.

Actually, you COULD just ask to be parked in Moridian Gaol; there is no escape. No need to be suspended; gilseller can't do jack shit if they log in to Moridian Gaol and have to talk to a GM to get to DB/AH and so on.

Well suspend / parked is what I meant. The terminology excaped, whether parked or suspended what's the difference? If they have access to my account they can just pretend to be me and have my character released correct? Just an extra step to take and for them to speak english properly.

I don't think any GMs will send you to MG without you actually breaking the rules. Suspend your content IDs and delete your character if you're going to stop playing, but it's highly unlikely a GM will ever field such a request. People have asked similar things before and GMs always tell them no.

Though I will say this is the first time I've ever heard of RMT reactivating a dead account to use. I'm not sure how they would get a password for something you haven't logged into for two months, but then again I don't know how they get passwords for PS2 and 360 players either, but they do.

Yeah that's kinda odd how they were able to get my password. But it's not as if I uninstalled FFXI on my computer. So the password is still stored in the registry, so somehow I must have picked up a virus or spyware that looked into the registry where the password is stored.

Also my password cannot be hacked into using a dictionary. It's letters and numbers in a combination that cannot be looked up.

Also, Customer Service said that GM's will freeze your account and send your character to Mordion Gaol upon your request.

Hmm. Does anyone know if Norton Gamer Edition is any good? Aparantly Mcafee doesn't stop whatever that managed to install into my computer. Is it as comperable to it?

Hmm. I wonder how long this investigation is going to take. It seems like they are now treating me like a criminal where they cannot tell me anything about the case and telling me to wait to be contacted. Heh. Looks like I'm going to miss out on the beta unless I just sign up for a new PlayOnline ID.

                  Re: Haaaaaave you met Omniblast?

Well today finally got a response from them via. phone call.
This customer service representative was more helpful.
                  Permenant ban.

Told me that from what they can see, the severity of the infraction that whoever did on my account will prevent me from getting my account back. Which is kinda odd, since if it's not under your control, you would still get punished for it? Kinda doesn't make sense.

The main reason why I wanted to get my account back, well the two reasons were, so that I can sign up for ffiv. The second reason being to stop the spam mail received from SE every week. If anyone has received that newsletter, the only way to unsubscribe from it is to log in, and I can't necessarily log in on a banned account.

It's strange, after being a customer for 5+ years that their treatment would be of this manner. It would have been nice to retire my character on a good note. I never like to go out on a banning. This hurts my pride and reputation more than the money or time lost playing. I had some good times, fun times. I remember getting lost as my whm going to Rabao for the first time trying to get a map. A nice JP player showed up and actually helped me get there. My first avatar battle. My first Fenrir fights with some other Summoners. First couple of hunts for that blasted Yinyang robe. Damn you shikigami weapon. Getting it at 3am in the morning, geez. First few Divine Mights. Full wipe on Kirin on full alliance and back up alliance, and recovered and kill all sky gods + kirin. Ah good times. Sorry block of text.

Felt like another blow for me. Gonna miss my lil'tarutaru.

Sorry to hear that has happend to you. I stopped playing 3 years ago. Now you got me worried that my character is off running around somewhere. Any idea how RMT took over your account?

For me, I've never seen any CC charges, and checking FFXIAH I see the last Auction house sale dates from my character on my server are correct (Feb 07) so I doubt anything has happend. All I did was cancel my content ID"s. I didn't do anything else, so my account would have still been active as long as SE wanted to keep it that way. However, I did play on PS2, and that PS2 is long gone, so I could never recover anything myself at this point.

When you say you can't get in Beta now, what do you mean? They aren't using POL ID for FFXIV are they? I thought you had to get a Square-Enix ID. I just signed up for mine last week. Or can they tie in the SE ID with your POL one?
