  • Low-level training near Jeuno

O hai. I need haz halp plox.

To keep a long story relatively short, my friend and I (lvl 11 and lvl 13 Black and Red mages, respectively) walked to Jeuno from Windurst. We made it without too much of an issue. However, now that we're in Jeuno, we find that we are extremely out-leveled by PCs, Mobs, and Stores alike. So... my question is, do any of you know of a relatively low-level area near Jeuno where we can level?

    Thanks in advance! ^^

At those levels, you're probably going to have to go at least 3 maps away from Jeuno in either direction (to La Theine Plateau or Meriaphud(I know its spelled wrong) Mountains (Those mobs may be borderline strong too). Sadly, if you go that far, you might as well head to the dunes for partying.

I'd tell you to set your homepoints in jeuno and go to the dunes for partying, (Or La Theine for Duoing) but if you die that is a long arse walk from jeuno. So you'd basically have to hope somebody brought a powerleveler with them that had Raise. (We once had a PL without raise.... It was hella sad, but funny at the same time)

I'm sure you guys probably went to jeuno to get gear, but if not why'd you go there? lol

      Thanks for the quick reply.

Yeah; we went for gear, as well as training. We can solo against mobs in the Canyon north of Windurst with little to no difficulty. However, that's a long walk back just to sell off some loot. We were under the impression that the areas surrounding Jeuno would be close to the same level as the Canyon.

The Goblin Mugger in Fields that hit me for ~80 points of damage seems to indicate otherwise.

I think that we'll have a look at La Theine first. We have several PL's in our linkshell, so the Dunes are always an option. How would we get to La Theine from Jeuno?

Leave Upper Jeuno, head West across Batallia Downs, then Southwest through Jugner Forest. Don't forget to pick up the Holla gate crystal when you get there!

              Re: Low-level training near Jeuno

Good job on getting there. That means you two have a solid understanding of how aggro and detection works and you're not a bunch of wussies afraid to take risks. The rewards for that aren't tangible, but it'll pay off - you'll find yourself having to traverse very dangerous areas increasingly often in the future. Sadly you won't have much to do in Jeuno 'til Level 20 when it's time to do the Chocobo License quest.

Anyways, the areas around Jeuno are pretty much symmetrical. E.g. Sauromugue Champaign is the same as Rolanberry Fields and Batallia Downs, just with different scenery and mobs. The way back to the other two nations is pretty much the same as it was from Windurst to Jeuno. Shouldn't have any problems if you're using your maps and check your region map to have a rough idea of what connects with what.

Jugner Forest can be rather treacherous compared to Meriphataud and Passhow Marshlands though. Being a dense forest, the visibility is much poorer and you won't have the luxury of wide open spaces. Be on the lookout for tigers, since if one of those aggros you, you'll never be able to outrun it (as opposed to a Goblin BLM or something.)

Even worse, Be on the lookout for Treants (Giant Tree Mobs). On my first trek to Jeuno at level 20ish: Myself (WAR), another WAR friend, and a experienced lvl 20 NIN (Who was showing us the way) were on the way to Jeuno when we got aggroed by a damn Treant. We were like "OH SHI- WE'RE GONNA DIE!!!!!!" The NIN decided to tank the tree until we got a good distance away and then 2-Hour. It was the best sacrifice of all time (Shush Kanye). I'll never forget that day ever, one of the most fun trips I can remember.

Uh...? It'd be a lot faster and better to run a new mule to Jeuno.

Best use I ever saw was our NIN used it to flirt with a WHM who raised a pt member as they passed by on the way in to Garbage Sh!tadel. When the Whm was on her way out our NIN noticed and /shouted "I can't live w/o you!!!", 2hr'd, and killed himself... suddenly we had a random PL for about 2hrs (^,^)d

Ascadia ~ once you get home, you may try leveling in Giddeus. I'm not from Windy but I level'd alot of my jobs at that lvl duo'n in the first beastland zone from my starter city cuz I really just hated partying in the Dunes. Mine was Ghelsba OP zones so I would think there's a equivalent in Giddeus for that lvl. Proly better drops in there too.

Tahrongi Canyon is arguably a better alternative to Giddeus thanks to it actually having FoV books and much less competition.

Didn't even think of that... Cool.. good call. I haven't actually done too much FoV at that lvl yet. Did most of my lvl'n in the Beast lands before the advent of FoV.... .. . .
