Because it makes so much more sense to take incredible risky gambles with real life money than with fake pretend money.

Its much faster than farming for hours on end just to get another chance of getting another crappy item. Some people will do that.

I agree with everything Aksannyi says.

You can try to argue that SE'd sadistic behavior makes sense: the gear augmentation was clearly meant to pull gear out of circulation to help the people selling the gear. A piece of gear with a negative stat will need to be replaced.

But, that argument fails imo when you point out that people would augment more often if they couldn't get negative stats. I know that I myself would augment stuff more often if it was less random, and there was no chance of negative stats. I might even have gone so far as to augment *all* of my augmentable gear. Instead, I'm almost afraid to even try it

Next update: augments are now job-relevant, significant stat increases, and CoP mission BCs are now even easier than ever before.

Next update: augmented items change properties according to the player's current job, and WotG mission BCs are now soloable by Raydeus.

What does CoP have anything to do with this though? If you're trying to make an analogy, it's not working. CoP is still plenty hard, in fact, this game is still plenty difficult without the advent of worsening your gear. Some of us just feel it's a bit much with the negatives.

Eh I usually get my tabs via Despot farming so I generally just do Eraser regardless of the item since I'm already up there. I have a Heirarch Belt and 2 other random pieces to try later this week then I think I'm going to call it quits on the FoV for awhile, I haven't really ruined any of my gear at least, just gotten a whole ton of useless augments.

It would've been nice to see at least more than +1 of an elemental resist for 450 tabs though...I guess I can't complain too much, I got a relatively decent Fay Gendawa(STR+4/RAtk+9/WSAcc+4) for my RNG mule who was lacking a decent Bow, going to attempt another one of those soon and hopefully get a slightly better one.

haha, I guess I should note that on that run Rin got a STR-1/DEX-1 Forager's and Veo got a Water resist+20 Errant body...so I guess I landed somewhere in between.
