Its my guess that these people are either...

A) Very lucky and get it on the first few tries.

B) Are VERY rich, and keep spamming their items, and have LOTS of free time.

C) Are RMTs, and can just keep spamming their items as they buy in game money with real money.

I am gusseing that some of them are RMTs as I would NEVER attempt to augment some of the things that I have seen on their. That, or they have found some way to make lots of money very fast...

Or they have found some way to make money that is not so fast, but a side effect of something else that they have been doing for the past 5 years (like farming behemoth; what do you think dusk is frigging made out of in the first place), and they've built up a hundred million gil because they have nothing else to do with it.

Now it is going to go to crafters, and indirectly, people who farm/mine/BCNM materials.

The whole point of the system was to get rid of the huge accumulation of gear and create an opportunity to craft stuff again, which means it has to ruin some gear to take it off the market. People who traded their most awesomest item ever knowing that you might get something good or something crappy - well, don't risk what you can't afford to lose, same as RL gambling.

The fairy weapons are different - apparently the augments can't be worse than pretty decent. (Which is good, because the base stats are mediocre at best.)

I am gusseing that some of them are RMTs as I would NEVER attempt to augment some of the things that I have seen on their.

Because it makes so much more sense to take incredible risky gambles with real life money than with fake pretend money.

This just sounds so off. I mean not everyone can claim Behemoth every day, and hides don't drop every time you kill it. You don't just farm Behemoth. Most linkshells also sell the hides and the money goes into the LS bank. I get what you're saying, but one person isn't going to keep getting the spoils of that kill, and trust me, you could (in theory) solo Behemoth but there's no reason to. Mostly because you'd piss everyone in BD off.

Dusk Gloves +1 are incredibly rare and a huge gilsink to make. Some people have gone 1/50+ on making them/getting them made. They are at the very least worth 10m, probably more in most situations. I think this person is fucking CRAZY to augment them but they must not care that much about their gil, and will probably get another pair. I don't expect that to be soon, though, because they're not easy to get.

If people keep augmenting shit like that (most won't, I'm sure) expect another mini-inflation. Some things have risen in price, like NQ Weskits and I heard Forager's mantles. So who knows, it might suck more to get gear now just straight off the AH.

I still don't see your point. What does that have to do with the "don't like it, don't do it" argument? Obviously the people who would do the activities you mentioned must like them, right?

As Karinya said, part of the point behind the system was to motivate players to take chances with their gear, thus removing it from the resale market and benefiting crafters as a direct result by allowing them to put new items on the market. We talked about this possibility when augments were first introduced.

Had the added this system sooner rather than later, it's likely it would have been more effective. But then, an armor/weapon degradation system would have done this, too, in addition to adding another gilsink to remove gil from circulation.

Also, I wouldn't consider Scouting the Ashu Talif a "dead" activity as there are a respectable amount of people that still do it from time to time. For Barbossa pieces mainly, but some still want the scarf for crafting that fancy-and-expensive-yet-totally-laughable kyudogi. Why? Because RNGs and SAMs still seem to think its a cool item. It isn't, really, but why stop them from thinking that when they'll buy it. A fool and his money are quickly parted, so profit from stupidity.

Well my initial point in the matter was that gear will still be removed, even without the advent of negatives. Personally, I'd keep trying with some pieces because I'd want something better than Divine Skill +2. I think others probably would too, provided they had the gil. So I don't think the negatives were necessary to achieve that objective, it would be a bit slower though. I guess they really wanted to kick crafting in the teeth. Who knows if it will ultimately succeed, people might lose interest in a month.

Removing of such an HQ like that makes me weep though. Ugh, so rare, down the drain. Just really sucks. It doesn't affect me at all but it just kinda hurts to look at.

Actually I like the Dragon Harness with the +8 accuracy mod better. strictly better SH ftw (sure you lose the +10 eva but as a TP piece it's unbeatable for THF except by raparee harness and that's only if you have a full haste build.)

Oh? What body piece should RNGs and SAMs Ranged Attack in? I wouldn't know, and you have effectively invoked my curiosity.

Or are you saying it's just that Kyudogi, while a decent body piece for its purpose, is nowhere near actually worth how much gil it goes for?

Spider Torque with +1 STR -1 VIT -1 AGI and +12 Water resist. Oh yeah going to be ready for when that Water Wyrm is released!!!. (My turtle was a genbu copy cat, thats why my Augments were silly)
