  • Lv83-86 Elder Treant Party

Has anyone ever partied on Lv83-86 Elder Treants? Did you use a SC+MB setup?

I'm curious how well SC+MB would work against IT mobs at Lv75.

    Tank
    PLD/DNC (WAR/DNC or DNC/WAR could work)

    Melee DD & Backup Healing
    2 x BLU/NIN (THF/NIN also a good option)

    Magic DD
    SCH or BLM

    Healing & Enfeebling
WHM, SCH, or RDM (DNC/NIN or SMN/SCH with RDM/NIN puller or SCH/RDM magic DD)

    Support & Pulling
    COR, BRD, or RDM

    Skillchains
Darkness: Vertical Cleave <> Disseverment; Expiacion > Vertical Cleave
Fusion: Asuran Claws <> Asuran Claws; Expiacion > Cannonball
Liquefaction: Vorpal Blade, Savage Blade, or Expiacion > Asuran Claws

    Magic Burst
    Fire IV

    Yes, no.

It was NIN, RDM, WHM, 3DD (THF, DRK, MNK or something like that, maybe 2 MNK and a THF, it was a while ago). It wasn't the fastest EXP probably about 8-9k/h) but it didn't matter since the party was a blast.
I use a Mac because I'm just better than you are.

You'd be better off expecting a Blizzard IV to be MB'd on the Darkness SC.

Anyway, if you're doing SC, it is worth noting that, the longer the chain is, the more damage it produces. This applies both to the skillchain itself and the Magic Bursts, so it's worth keeping in mind if the Paladin has an Atonement to spare, or (heaven forbid ) the Red Mage has a Death Blossom at the ready (a bonus for everybody involved since it reduces resist rates on, well, everything).

Also worth noting is, thanks to Afflatus Solace, it's actually worth it for White Mages to MB Holy on Fusion or Light SCs, since presumably they're going to be curing for quite a bit.

Anyway, I obviously wouldn't know how well this would work in practice, but it sounds fun. If I could give any advice, it would be to stay flexible enough so that every job possible has something to contribute, and not just the ones you listed.

Speaking of jobs possible SAM and /SAM is good have because more tp = more ws ~ more SC + MB. Just a thought because there are a six hit tp builds for sam, drg and drk are common you could easily get a dark or light sc with a MB off 2 times increasing the productivity of the party. Also this is just because I never seen it. If a blm MB an AM2 are they able to loose hate with out take a huge hit? Just wonder because an increased output on dmg may give more room to chain.

I have, we did, it wasn't that great. On IT mobs, you'd be better off with 2 Handers, or at the very least have the blus sub /thf. If you're going to rely on Blu SC dmg, /Thf will help out far more then /Nin. They're also asses to pull since the saplings link with them iirc, and while they're only DCish they still have those nasty AoEs, including an AoE sleep which can screw things up big time.

I've manaburned them before, but never taken a traditional party there. Their AoE attacks are far too annoying.

I don't remember how much XP/hr it was, maybe 11K/hr if everything was firing on all cylinders.
