Problem Running FFXI

Hey, So I installed FFXI on my PC today, got everything installed properly. When I double click on PlayOnline to start it up, a window comes up saying "PlayOnline stopped working" and shuts down. Same thing happened when I clicked on the FFXI shortcut, and the FFXI Config. So I looked around google and downloaded PlayOnline's new client for Vista. Finally got PlayOnline running, my account setup, a content ID purchased, and now I am in the process of downloading 11644 files that should be done downloading in the next 8 hours... I just want to know... will FFXI work after the patches are done downloading? I don't want to go through the hassle of finding out what the heck is wrong. I've installed everything.... it SHOULD work.... but does anyone have some insight? Thanks! *edit* By the way, I am in the process of updating FFXI. If I've gotten all the way there, it should mean that the game is functioning correctly... right? Also, for those wondering what my system is, here are the specs: Intel Core i7 920 2.67 ghz 6gb OCZ Reaper RAM nVidia GeForce GTX 295 Trust me when I say that my setup isn't what is causing the problem.
