Then I'm in game on another character and what do I see about 2 minutes after I get off the phone??

You know I thought it would be a week or more before they'd do something. It's pretty much what many of you had said so I wasn't surprised to hear "This is one of our rarest error msgs." "I've tried to troubleshoot this, let me give you to my supervisor." Supervisor: "This is one of our rarest error msgs...wow..." (No shit sherlock already been told that.) "I've tried troubleshooting this with no success. I'm going to have to forward this to the coding department."

When I got off I figured I had been given the run around. They said they were working on it right now but it could take a few days but while I'm waiting I should uninstall and reinstall FFXI...blah blah blah. (Why I don't know because I can access all 6 other characters on the same account just fine.) So color me surprised when my son ran into my room and was laughing so hard he could hardly talk "Mom.....hahahahhaha....Mom..hahahahahaha..come.....here!!!" So I go in his room and he's got one screen with him trying to log my character in and the other he's in ls on his character and it has the maintenance msg. SE actually doing something in a timely fashion. Well it is one of the rarest error codes.....

No wonder others took a week to get their chars unstucked, they have to perform maintenence to do it faster!

LOL, awesome! You actually got to talk to "Thee Supervisor" himself. He spawns so rarely that I think you might've been one of the very select few to view his leetness. At least now we know that the supervisor drops Immediate Emergency Maintenance +1 when defeated.

Also: San'dorian Knights of the Gold Badger.......No wonder they got defeated.

No luck yet with logging in. Still get the FFXI - 3202 RARE error code. lolololol I'm a worrier and all that keeps popping into my head is "what if they can't ever retrieve my character??". Hmmm...would that be such a bad thing....???

In your case, yeah, it's not really going to help.

I think that's a general thing they tell you because of the kind of problem I had a couple of weeks ago. People can get "stuck" by having bad client-side data too. My current "main" PS2 has a hard drive that I got used, which someone had used with HDLoader, and when I tried to rip what few games were installed on it, there were a couple of disk errors. So I hooked it up to my Macbook Pro, copied /dev/zero to it in case that might help fix up the bad sectors, then went through the install process.

When I got rank 5, I found out that taking the airship from Jeuno to San d'Oria and Bastok (didn't try Windurst) would cause a lockup, even when rebooting and trying again. Swapping in my other PS2 let me get out of that bad zone. I figured there was some damaged data on the HD, and I forgot about it for a while.

Then one day I got a freeze-up just as I was zoning from Qufim to Jeuno, and it sure felt like a bad data problem. A couple of hours later I go back to Qufim to do some minor PL for a LS-mate, then just as I was about to reach him and drop a Raise, WHAM. I tried twice to get in, and it would lock up just at the point where the players/mobs show up. At least I was able to type a line into LS chat each time so they had some clue what was going on. I had to swap to my other PS2, spend 15 minutes for the pending POL update, then I was able to get in.

The next day I found out that there was a disk test on the Sony HD utility disc, and I was able to fix it properly. ( link ) Basically, if I hadn't had another install ready, I would have been screwed by being stuck in an area with damaged client-side data.
