    Re: FFXI Reasonable Doubt

So the petition guy basically comparing this to windower, DB, and other tools.

This is a very poor analogy. SE just can't detect certain things, and if they did, more people would be banned for using certain tactics and tools...

As far as the petition goes, I think it's a bad idea. People who are supposedly innocent should have known to drop party and call a GM. That way, the people in your alliance probably won't get penalized at all, and the GM will let you off. However, they willingly stayed in party, didn't call a GM and got banned.

So all I can say to the petition guy is that should learn from his mistake. Making a petition isn't going to make SE change their decision.

I believe this would be more like an appeal, wouldn't it?

        Re: FFXI Reasonable Doubt

        I thought this looked familiar.

Still stupid. SE can look at these bannings a third, fourth, fifth time, whatever. They already took a second look in the course of the investigation. They're not going to reverse any of them.

Even if enough people actually agree with the petition, and it somehow defies all logic and reason to become the one online petition that ever achieves anything other than a big circle-jerk, it's just not going to happen.

But, futility aside, screw this petition. The only metric that matters is whether someone broke the rules. Doesn't matter why, or how, or whether they're nice to puppies. Break the rules, get caught, deal with the consequences. If someone wants to bring "reasonable doubt" into a situation to which it doesn't apply, why not "Ignorance of the law is no excuse?"

There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

If the petition writer wants to be taken seriously, they need to proofread better. They also assume that they actually have rights in this situation - which they don't. The fact that they compare their acts to other unapproved acts doesn't make them look any more innocent, and doesn't excuse them for doing something wrong themselves.

However, like I said on BG, I didn't expect a great reception to this, but I promised I'd put this out there on forums because my friend asked me to.
Problem here is, as far as YOU know, this person didnt deserve to get banned, but nobody else, us or SE included, know for sure. You can say he/she was a victim of circumstance, but as it was already stated before, he/she should have broken PT and called a GM.

It may as well have been someone else who initiated the duping, but problem is, that person prlly also got perma'd and deserved it. Which is why I make sure to not run with shells or people who ALREADY have a bad rep in the game. I'm sorry, but running with a supposedly "elite" shell who has members with bad reps, versus running with a "not-so-good" shell with members who are over-all squeaky clean, ill take the latter, know what i mean? Your friend may have just been running with the wrong crowd, but was deemed guilty by association, and as unfair as that may be, SE isnt known for being TOO fair =/
