    Re: Any Advice?

Use the wiki. There are so many guides and compiled info over at that site it should adequately answer most if not all of your questions.

As for race, pick whichever you like best. If I'm not mistaken, the trial version lets you make up to 3 characters so that you can test out at least 3 of the races and all 3 nations. The most important thing is to pick a character you like because you'll be looking at him or her for a long time =3

Stat wise, the only stats that are really hard to make up for are HP and MP (Galka and Taru respectively).

That is, a Galka will have a decent HP advantage over elves, a strong advantage over hume/mithra and a major advantage over Taru and vice versa for MP. The only other stats that you will notice a glaring disparity with is STR and INT (Elvaan and Taru). A well geared Taru can hang with the best of DD's if well geared and merited. However, if you really really like melee jobs above all else I would suggest Elvaan or Galka for their high HP STR and VIT ratings.

As others have said, the best way to find out for sure is to try them all (jobs and races) and see what you like. There's 5 different races and 20 jobs to play around with (though you only have 6 to start) so there's plenty of variety.

            Re: Any Advice?

The newb/n00b distinction is basically this: newb (abbreviation of newbie) is ignorance by way of inexperience. n00b is chronic ignorance.

I want to say there's a thread/post from a ways back that went through and summarized the essence of the playstyles for each job, beyond merely DD/mage/etc. but I'd have to go digging for it...

if you want to solo alot i would head towards the beast tamer they are loads of fun
to solo with... if you like living on the edge and keeping it exciting i would go
