I've posted this before, but I've pretty much dedicated myself to attacking charmed people in dyna. When it comes to fighting them, I have my Breath spells set, Cannonball set, sleep spells set, all ready to take advantage. Pretty much a whole macro page set for getting at charmed people when it comes to fighting those NM's. Hilarity ensues

Yesterday the other WHM in my shell went after Maat. I made PT, loaned a bat earring and some crow gear, then ran to Balga's to watch the bars. Hmm, doesn't look like the Repose strategy. Maat gave up with just 9MP left. After it was over,
"Why didn't you use Repose?"
"I didn't think it would work."
"You could have tried it anyhow, then tanked if it didn't stick."
"My Divine magic is 30."
"30 as in six times five? You haven't been leveling it up in Besieged?"

Maat was not known for his difficulty on WHM long before Repose, and nothing should be different now. If I didn't know any better, I would think you all just artificially increase its difficulty by obsessing over and again about Repose and Divine Magic Skill!

Yes, we know you have a crusade against the slothful evil that is The Repose Strategy. You don't need to go into the same rant every time the word "repose" appears in a post. And guess what, it works. So it might get resisted, so what? We already know WHM is supposed to be able to tank the whole five minutes, so what's 30 seconds to wait out the recast time? That's barely enough to break stoneskin.

Besides, thanks to it, I've actually learned to save my own butt when solo or in campaign by reposing shit. About to get squished from accidental aggro? Repose it and run away. Running out of MP? Repose it, and rest while watching the clock. Got aggro from a campaign mob? Repose it, go next to a scrum, repose it again when it arrives, then tank the excess hate for a few seconds when the zerg rush wakes it up.

And my point wasn't about how Maat was fought, it was that a level 69 WHM had the divine magic skill of a capped level 9 WHM. That was the WTF.

I might as well bring up my own crusade, which is that I believe WHM shouldn't have to be stuck at the "back of the bus" doing main heal all the time. If SE meant for WHM to be played solely as a main heal bot, they wouldn't have bothered with things like Banish III and Hexa-Strike.

Repose exists. Repose works. Deal with it.

I must have the opposite problem than your WHM there. My Divine Magic is capped for a 75 PLD, but all my other magical skills are rather lacking. I haven't been to Besieged or Campaign for a while, so I haven't really gotten around to spamming support on NPCs for skillups, but I figure I could do that later.

Flash is made of ossum. If I ever go brain dead and level WHM again, I figure I'll at least be able to depend on my Reposes, if anything.

Ok, so I came across this old bit of silliness. We were in sea and I was in charge. You know how people can get about drops and how they don't want to be stuck holding pop stuff. So some stuff dropped and I was saying I'd take it.....I just said it at the wrong time......

Maybe I didn't make myself clear: Repose is great, sure. However, ever since it came out, it was like "I need to fight Maat on WHM," "Repose him," "I tried, but Maat resisted and Asuran Fisted me," "Cap your Divine Magic skill" . . .

Maybe you forgot something about the infamous Red Mage Maat fight, how even with capped Enfeebling and E.Staves, trying to land anything on the old man is often a nightmare. While Repose is dandy and all, people completely reforming their Maat fights to revolve around it is stupid: it only artificially makes more difficult a fight which isn't supposed to be that hard anyway by relying on a spell that may not work without any back up.

Yet, people appear to insist that Reposing Maat is the only way to go to beat him, completely forgetting how a White Mage could whoop him just a couple of years ago. Well, you are, as you say, all about keeping White Mages off of the back of the bus, so maybe you'd be interested in how a similar-minded White Mage really does the job:

Maybe I didn't make myself clear: I wasn't saying "oh you didn't use Repose you lamer", it was "holy crap you have no divine magic skill!" (which at the very least means a WHM who isn't using Flash)

How can I forget something I never knew? Look at the list of jobs in my sig. Is RDM there? Nope.

Stupid? Out of five casts in MY fight, only one was resisted, and another didn't last the full duration. Sure, I used it, but in no way was I saying it was The Only Way. If you disagree, please prove where I did say so. If I got multiple resists and Maat beat me, then I would have happily said "hey kiddies, don't try this at home". Plus I learned a new combat technique to keep my taru butt alive solo and in campaign.

Tell me this: have YOU ever tried the WHM Maat fight with Repose, just prove to the world how stupid it really is and how hard it is to make it work? Or are you just talking out your ass because you're jealous that RDM Maat is so much harder?

I think the problem here is you mis-reading any mere mention of reposing Maat as "insisting" that is the "only way" to beat him. And then launching into an off-topic tirade about it.

backstory: We're in Mount Zhayolm fighting some ZNMs. LS member logs on, and sees all of us out there, and thinks Cerb is up. So we decide to fuck with him.





Entire ally was in on it, I didn't screenshot PT chat but we were laughing so hard at his expense.

Why is that so good? Because Zimph is notorious for going AFK in the middle of big fights and getting people killed. We even set up the "OMG STAN DOWN" part!

Seriously, everything was orchestrated so perfectly, from the "para plz" (on the WHM, which is why Stan died!) even to the "delevel" (because Stan delevels a TON), never had so much fun with an LS joke in my whole life. We were talking about the ZNM in party chat and Cerb only in LS (except for one slip up which was easily covered by Stan asking if it was good) and we were all pretty much dying by the time he got over there and realized that Cerb was not, in fact, up.

Never laughed so hard in this game ever.
