  • The infamous White Mage club leveling.

Ok, so as we speak I am sitting in Quifim island beating the crap out of clippers with my club. it is a maple wand +1. It has delay:210 and damage 4. I started about 45 mins ago with level 24 club skill. I am now 63 and it has gone down incredibly. Anybody able to give me a guide on where to go from here? I am a lvl 72 whm. SHould I keep this weapon and go somewhere else or get new weapon and somewhere else? Thank you.

Ok just an update. I am now in Sea Serpent Grotto fighting crabs and am a lvl 88. It seems to be going very slow. Still using my Maple Wand +1. I don't know if this is the best place for me to be skilling up club and I can't seem to find a good guide on telling you where to level up. I suck

I know you can skill up outside Jeuno til 100. (But from 80-100 it gets slow). I'd say a good place to level from 80-100 would be Crawler's Nest, Eldieme, or Garlaige, on the lower level mobs. Try to get to 120 in these places before you go onto Kuftal to get to 200.

The other way to find places to go is roughly follow the path you would if you were in a party. So Qufim > Kazham/Sauromugue > GC/CN (or Eldieme Necro on Lost Souls, which you can rip apart). By that point, you should be hitting about 120 skill and can (with lots of acc gear and sushi) start getting tolerable skillups in Kuftal.

If you check Wiki: WHM skillcaps, you'll see a list of where your club should be at each level. Just search the various regions for mobs that are 7-10 levels above where you're currently at, and go to town.

Idle question: why a wand? We get a panoply of decent and good hammers.

edit: vB code gets me every time.

Generally you want to skill up on things that are close to the level of the skill you're trying to reach. Like for example, most people leave Qufim as a party around level 25, which is equivalent to 75~ skill, give or take your rating. You could keep going since the mobs higher than 25(cept maybe worms), but for fast skillups I've always tried to stick to party levels till it comes to levels 50+.

I've been leveling my club skill randomly on BLU just to have it capped, and after Qufim I hit the jungle and farm a couple items from mobs out there. And try to stick to the actual jungle, not the mandies that people party off of <_<.

When you're attempting to skill up, all you should really care about is swinging as often as possible as hitting as often as possible. If you pick a low damage weapon, then you can keep the same mob alive for a long time. Using a hammer with higher delay and higher base damage would only result in slower attacks, and extra work having to find new mobs to kill.

If you go to The Vana'diel Bestiary you can check the Skillup Mob Search in the bottom left hand corner. Put in your info for whatever you are skilling up and it will bring you a page with your current skill lvl, what job lvl that is equivalent to, as well as a list of mobs you should be taking to skill up. I use it all the time for skill ups and solo mob xp search. ^.^
