Will there be a restriction on level sync?

If there's no restriction, it's not as fun and challenging. People can just use high lvl characters to level up in low level areas like the dunes, etc. There should be like 20 lvl limit from lowest to highest lvl in a party before using level sync. A lvl 74 shouldn't sync with a lvl 10.

There isn't a limit besides having to be at least level 10. When one of my friends came back to the game and started a new character I went out an synced with him once he hit 10. I also helped him camp Lizzie. I was playing my level 75 and got a merit point doing so.

Since all your stats are scaled down and you gear is as well I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to party with him. I had none of my level 75 skills so it's not as if I was uber or anything. It wouldn't have been any different if I had gone and used one of my level 10 jobs- my skills would still have been capped from my higher jobs. I just used my 75 because I was too lazy to go into Bastok and change jobs

there is a limitation, 2 really

you have to have someone to sync too, you cant just set your level
and that person must be level 10 plus

and besides, like others said, its not like there is an advantage or anything, since stats and armor/weapons are all scaled down.

Well, doesn't make it harder to find parties if you don't want to lvl the same place over again? High lvl people will go to low lvl areas and there will be less people in the high lvl area to party with. Some people won't ever experience lvl 40-75 content because they can just stick with lvl 10-40 zones from lvl 10-75, etc. This is an important issue imo.

You're also forgetting that the lower level you are the slower you level since players get a lot stronger as they level. A level 60 leveling exclusively in valk is going to level a lot slower than a natural 60.

You also do not skill up for your natural level. If you level from level 10 to 75 in valk (lord shoot me, that would suck), you would be stuck at level 75 with the combat/magic skill of a level 10. :/

Most high level people won't level sync below level 50. And as far as 70+ goes, the exp in areas for those levels is just too easy and good to even think about level sync down to a significant lower level. There is no problem with the lower level areas getting flooded with high level players syncing down. It's just not going to happen.

What did happen though was for lower level people to be able to find/form parties eaiser. That was the point of level sync.

I personally would never synced down more than 15 levels for several parties in a row. There's a lot of places in Vana'diel that I haven't seen yet, and I don't want to stay in the same spot of all of my levels. But, if someone wants to do that, let them.

Trade 20k/hr+ for leik 5k/hr in dunes on a job that requires 40k+ exp to level/cap? no thanks.

But if I'm in the mood to party with a friend who has a level 18 job or something, it's fun to have the option to sync with him and not start a new job, buy more equipment, and skill up my weapons/magiczz.

This. I dislike going below 50 on my WHM purely because losing the bonuses on your elemental staves sucks. That and and lower and I'd have to go back to Garilage which is probably causes a stress induces coronary for any healer there.

Though sometimes I'll say no to syncing below 65-68 purely so I don't have to camp those bloody birds.

Though on my Server Qufim tends to be full of merit parties and RMT parties exping on worms and crabs so it's usually impossible to get a party there without some sort of drama.

This is one of those things that looks like it might be an issue when you look at the way it works, but it really isn't.

People get tired enough of any given XP camp just leveling through it to begin with. Voluntarily going back there over and over when you have other options doesn't happen often enough to worry about. Most people leveling a job past 40 want to actually play that job, which means wanting to experience new gear/spells/abilities/etc. Playing a job only with its abilities at level 40 for 35 more levels, then merits, would be boring as hell. Of course, for people leveling something just for a subjob, that doesn't matter so much, but they'll tend to rush through it and get out of everyone else's way anyway.

Then there's the issue of overcrowding. There just isn't room for everyone to sync down to the lower XP camps enough to worry about.

Level Sync is only really annoying I find when you're a mage job. Adjusting to losing weapon skills is easy; having to redo your entire spellset is a complete pain in the ass >. <;


But yeah I'll level sync at any level (particularly on my BST lol) since I get to help out friends while earning EXP myself.

Personally, I will level-sync to anything but only cuz I have so many friends with differing job levels they are working on... and it's always a better/funner party with buds. Time goes by faster anyway. I prefer certain level ranges over others cuz of what abilities I'm allowed to use but generally I'm cool with just getting exp.

I don't see what your concerned about being a problem tho.. you still must "pay the piper" with crazy skill-up sessions and concurrently internet searches of mob-lvls... which I've been doing the last couple a days since I have hit Lvl 70

I've noticed high levels feel a nostalgia for the places they haven't been able to level at again until level-sync. And some low level areas become insane exp gathering events when these old vets come back with the knowledge they've gained to really work over these spawning mobs. These vets imparting their knowledge to the newbie partys is also a good thing.

Tho I do find it funny when one of the vets in my LS gets their panties in a bunch when they are in a Dunes party that wipes ... I mean... that is what the Dunes are, right? ... just a painfully abrasive roll of toilet paper to constantly wipe with...

It's fine the way it is now. Changing it now would cause too much strife from other community members where they would protest (to no avail) about such changes. I don't see any issues with it now.
