How much does it cost to play Final Fantasy XI with one character and all expansion packs?

So you do not pay extra for the Expansion packs once you have them?
I have the starter pack so i can install all of the expansions.

On the PlayOnline program it asks me to purchase content I.D's for the expansions, what do i buy in regard to that? Because i don't want to pay
$26.00AUD for just FFXI and then another $26.00 for every expansion

Once you buy the full game with all the expansions (Vanadiel Collection 2008 which is around $20.00 US), all you pay is the $12.95 a month for one character. You only need to buy one Content ID for your main character which will be the $12.95 a month.

I cannot aquire the 2008 edition, i can only aquire an edition of the game that has Rise of the Zilart and the Chains of Promathia expansions...

Is there a way to buy the expansions online and after the initial buying of them not pay any more than $26.00?

You are missing Treasures of Aht Urhgan and Wings of the Goddess. If you buy those seperately, it will probably cost you just as much as the 2008 edition. You don't need those 2 expansions to start playing the game anyways. You can get along just fine on what you have in the beginning. There are many online websites where you can buy the game or the expansions if you want them. I don't know what country you live in though.

The $12.95 is a monthly fee. It will cost you that much each month to play the game. Then add on top of that the price of the expansions or the 2008 collection (whichever you get). All in all it soon ends up being over $26.00.

The monthly subscription fee covers all expansions, you don;t pay extra jsut because you have the expansions. Its one standard fee then addition fees per extra content ID above the default of 1.

In the Uk it costs me. £8.99 to play which includes my first content ID then I pay £0.70 each for my other 2 content ID's. a month on top which costs me a total of:-£10.39 a month.

The good thing is that we are charged the same as everyone else (for once) so it works out the same in what every currency roughly.

I.e The base of Monthly payment including your first content ID is (based on todays exchange rates)
£8.99 - UK
$13.03 US Dollars
9.32 euros
1,191.96 Yen (JAP)
$18.49 AUS dollars.

You just have to activate your first content ID which will cost the above after the first 30 days of play. Servcie & support - Membership - activate content ID's

As for the expansion packs you only have to register them. - Servcie & support - Membership - Expanded Services registration (under the contents section) (via pulldown menu at bottom of page) then choose the expansion and it will prompt for you to put in the expansion packs registration code
