Re: Curiosity regarding the game in general.

Well, they originally intended it to be only for non-expansion areas (with outposts, although some regimes involve killing in an adjacent zone)... there's a case to be made for expanding it at least to RoZ and CoP areas (Zi'Tah? Lufaise/Misareaux? Jungles? (Kill 8 members of the Tonberry family and 4 Master Coeurls...) Altepa? Teriggan?), and maybe giving non-outpost zones like La Theine, Konschtat, Tahrongi, Batallia, Rolanberry, Sauromugue, etc. their own books, though. (Filling the awkward gap between the top of Qufim and the bottom of Beaucedine, for example, to say nothing of expanding the system to higher levels and allowing more variety and less crowding in general.)

It's a wildly popular system, so there's some chance that SE will expand it, but who knows.

Including sky or sea does seem like a bit of a stretch, though. I'd expect them to try to revitalize neglected high level areas like Valley of Sorrows, Bibiki or Uleguerand first.

(And all that is not even considering the possibility of adding *dungeons* to the system... FoV in Shakhrami, Onzozo, Sea Serpent Grotto, Ifrit's Cauldron, Bostanieux, Toraimarai, Uggalepih... now *there*'s a zone where FoV wouldn't be overcrowded and the mobs overcamped, I bet. They could even tie it in to the changes to chests/coffers by putting key mobs in the FoV regimes.)

Re: Curiosity regarding the game in general.

You guys are all great, thanks so much for all the advice. I've been using the Field Manuals quite a lot, especially to make early leveling really quick and easy. My boyfriend was amazed by the speed I was leveling, especially with the XP from EP mobs. It might just lure him back.

And to Kailea, thanks, I appreciate the welcome and the warning! ;p Hope to see you on the field some time soon.

I'm off work for three days so I'll definitely plough on in and do what I can. I've yet to do the WotG areas at all, but I've had the expansion installed since I first started. Definitely need to give that little tip a go.

        Thanks again everyone.

Re: Curiosity regarding the game in general.

I started playing this game about 3-4 months ago , and i found there are alot of ELITE players who are rank 10 and have attitudes all the time. they are quick to judge and are very mean , and once they find out your new they sometimes dont even want you in there party

Yet these same ELITE players die to undead at quafim when the timer hits 10:00.

These guys are honestly crap players who have no life and there only happiness in the game is making fun of others.

i wouldn't worry about them. Just play your game , get your levels and find a LS that are full of mostly adults who are nice and compassionate. Once you have some new friends who you can look forward to chatting with everyday you log in, then the game has your niche you need >>

Re: Curiosity regarding the game in general.

Anyone that still thinks Rank 10 makes them elite is about four years late to the party. All Rank 10 means these days is you found five other people with a pulse to either drag you through the missions or that you were really dedicated in the first year of release of the game. The rewards of Conquest have long since become lackluster and when CoP Missions came around, a new standard was set for missions. Getting those done made you elite. And truly, getting those done is still considered a major accomplishment, even if there are a fair share of dumbasses that now get through CoP's idiot filter.

I've met those idiots, such as the backseat driver RDM who barked out orders during the CoP 8-3 fight when the leader and I had already decided the strategy before he opened his fucking mouth. He patted himself on the back, thought himself a big leader, even though we totally ignored him and just followed our plan for the win there. MNKs two hour the first two pots and a third if we're lucky. No shit, Captain Obvious.

Rank 10 in all three nations now really just means you're a story enthusiast that wants to see it all. And that your Mog House walls are filled with banners from all nations. That will be one of my goals this year since I enjoy the story so much.

I'm pretty sure that the Buburimu book works for Tahrongi. It's just that my /BLM was already almost 30 by the time FoV came out, so I never had a chance to try it out with the lowest level pages. (5 dhalmels + 3 crawlers is good to at least level 30 solo) Still, I guess there's really nothing for soloing the levels where you're killing bunnies and plantoids in Luck Rune valley.

              Maybe books would work around the crags, but those zones are so large with no other teleport entry that where else would you put them? Maybe at the lowbie entrance, but Konschtat and Tahrongi have those passes that take you forever to get through them. If you put them by the crag, I guess at least the PL could teleport them to the book. {/facepalm}

I agree that the areas around Jeuno could use books, as I see people obviously soloing on mobs outside the gates.

Re: Curiosity regarding the game in general.

Well, I don't know precisely where they'd put the books, but the Beaucedine outpost is full of aggro, so they can hardly do worse than that. >.>

For Tahrongi I'd say probably at the place the pass opens out into the main area - because some pages would want you to kill stuff in the pass, and others in the main areas. There's no aggro in the pass IIRC, so even if you're too low level to chocobo you could still get there safely.

Konschtat could probably work the same way. For La Theine the main division (IIRC) is between mobs near the road, near the crag, around the lake and down in the valleys, so somewhere around the middle of those four areas would probably be best.

Yes, some books do currently have a page that expects you to go into another zone. My suggestion would involve replacing those with more same-zone options at the same time the other zone got its own book, which would expand the options available for the system as a whole. That would allow players to pick monsters their job is good against, or monsters with drops they want, or areas that are easy for them to reach, or just monsters that aren't being camped by someone else.
