  • how to connection test?

Hi there, getting that dam FFXI 3100 error. So what I need to do is do a connection test to see what the problem is and give it to my ISP so they can fix it. I can't figure out to how do the test through the POL config. i have tried searching for thhe answer a bunch, but haven't gotten the answer. Many thanks!

Edit: By the way I have never played this game before, got it for christmas from a buddy and his wife, and they never had the problem. So I'm a noob to this game

Nah I don't think thats what he's looking for. But if he'd USE THE SEARCH FEATURE:

You can also use various services out there too.

        Webzila.com - Trace Route Test

This is the one I use (VisualRoute). The lite version is a free d/l:

          Re: how to connection test?

What kind of problems? I was having D/C problems at my mom's place, then I rang pings from my computer to hers (which was in the next room doing internet sharing to the wireless, while my laptop was doing internet sharing back to the PS2 on Ethernet) and a ping on her computer to the gateway address (oh yeah, OS X command line and SSH FTW). I found out that the wireless would go out randomly long enough to send "No route to host" back to my PS2, which killed the PS2->SE direction of the connection and caused the D/C.

So if you've got a wireless connection somewhere between your ISP and your FFXI client, try using a wired connection before blaming your ISP.
