Well, all testing indicates that TH4 is more like TH2 + 2%. It's not much of an improvement over TH2, especially for things that have double digit drop rates. If you're going after something with like 0.5% chance to drop, it's a lot more useful, but that's not the case with Nyzul.

You really don't need paladins or ninjas for Nyzul Isle. IMO, they're only gimping the damage and aren't contributing as much as a decently geared DD would

You don't visit BG very often do you? Argh gdi I can't find the thread for some reason (it used to be at the top wtf...) but there was a tonne of new TH testing done that proved very much to the contrary of this. TH 3 is a pretty big step above TH2 and likewise for 4 over 3.

We beat Fafnir last weekend with sam/nin x 3 mnk/nin war/nin whm/blm. No pld or nin...

Fafnir stays alive roughly 60 seconds vs. 3 SAMs, and again, all you need is for your party members to be smart and buy the proper meds before you enter. There is no boss in Nyzul that can't be handled simply using Body Boosts/Fanatic Drinks and TP burning it, bar getting some really out there pathos which would have probably boned you anyways. Several SAMs SCing off each other makes things go even faster.

And once again, you do not need a paladin. Use a fanatics drink and zerg with 4 samurais.

We used to go with:

WHM/...anything ... really didn't matter what I subbed.
RDM/WHM - RDM should sub WHM because sometimes the WHM just can't Erase everyone.
WAR/NIN - Subbing nin because he was tanking and also he had Ebody and Ridill
RNG/WAR - With Annihilator, he tore shit up
THF/NIN - TH4 please don't leave home without it!
NIN/WAR - Because he didn't have anything else but BLM and NIN is better for this.

Basically, it was massive rapeage. On kill all floors I'd go with the NIN and the THF and the RDM would go with the RNG and the WAR, splitting up to kill in half the time. Those groups were also what we'd use to determine which mage was "in charge" of who. I'd haste my people, he'd haste his, etc.

Unfortunately, that group disbanded. Two of them quit ( ) and we just didn't rebuild the group. Annih. RNG and Ebody Ridill WAR were hard to replace.

That said, I've done with with numerous setups that were less than ideal and worked. If people follow directions you've got a good chance for success. I was skeptical about BLU at first, especially for the boss floors, but they held their own rather nicely. I bet SCH would do well in Nyzul, but I have yet to test one out, mainly because I usually am on WHM.

As far as I know BRD is the only other job that can provide a light-based Dispel.

THF has a wind-based Dispel, but the recast is a bitch.

Haha, that's getting sigged.

And for the record, I didn't set the group up, I was just lucky enough to go. Having them with us made a HUGE difference in how quickly we were able to go through floors, though.
