You really don't need paladins or ninjas for Nyzul Isle.

I love Malacite's irony too.

All melee should buy a few items at the very least on each boss floor. Even if you do get a fafnir, having a pld isnt really going to make much of a difference in terms of your safety if you're one of the other melee since you'll be zerging the crap out of it. You'll still get hit by wing and having a pld there wont change that.

What Omni said. I'm not a Nyzul expert by a long shot since I've only recently started doing the odd run on weekends. I can see aa dedicated tank being useful on the lower boss floors or if you get hit by a White Magic Pathos (Making Blink Tanks usful) or Ninjutsu pathos (Making "supertank" Blood Tanks useful) but from what I've heard about the higher level HNMs on the top floors having any sort of tank is dangerous since you don't have the luxury of a full alliance plus outside help like the vast majority of regular HNM fights. With only 6 people the safest option sounds zerging the things.

Not saying it's the only option. I know a PLD who regularly does Nyzul runs on his 75 non-merited PLD.

Maybe Nyzul is better without a tank. I wouldn't know, since PLD is my only 75 job lol. I could certainly see how it could work, though.

@Lmnop: 96. Had some awful floors last couple of runs, and now we're low on tokens.

Well I'm pretty sure you're not someone who needs the concept of there being more safety in killing something faster than in letting it live longer with a setup slightly better at survivability spelled out, lol. Same deal pretty much, you go in and unload before it can do any real damage, the only time you come into hangups is when it stays alive longer than your MP/Fanatic's/time remaining can hold out, typically this happens more on a Hoplon-spamming Cerb than anything else.

What drinks are best to get? I've seen you say fanatics, is that just no physical damage taken for 30 secs? Our 3 runs went, meh... First run got to 3rd floor, 2nd run got to 4th floor, 3rd run to 3rd floor. We got lamps twice, and chariot group kills like 5 times... Sucked... The drinks we got were cleric so we oould cure status effects. I'm thinking you really only need the fanatics if you are planning on fighting one of the boss floors, right?

Spending tokens on Cleric's drinks is pretty much a waste unless you get a Flayer floor (or Flayer leader), even on Flayer floors I'll usually do a well-timed Bene to erase everything. Fanatics and Body Boosts are best, and for mages get Mana boosts, rest while the melees are getting TP on the rampart on the boss floor.

Actually I like having at least 1-2 cleric's, it helps a lot on H.Wing blind and Utulation, if for no other reason because the WHM can focus on cures and not on spamming -nas. The basic 'musts' for me are that all melee have a Body Boost and Fanatic's each, having a Dusty Wing is nice but not a total neccesity. I used to grab Mana boosts, but honestly we hurry through so quickly that I never even have time to fill up that large pool of MP anyways. If your healer grabs a just-in-case Ether it's nice, but not generally a must-have.

And Fanatic's is actually somewhat busted in Nyzul, against bosses it's only supposed to block physical attacks/TP moves, but for some reason it classifies all boss TP moves as physical damage in that regard when in Nyzul, so it pretty much makes you completely invulnerable for the duration.

Oh see with my group the RDM kept to his two DDs for -nas and I kept to mine, so it was never really a huge issue.

I almost always /DRK, so we only have the WHM for that, aside from that our SAMs sometimes come /DNC.

That's one thing our group never had, stun. But I can count on one hand the number of times we really needed it. GA3? Ohi Curaga 3. lol.

The boosts both last 15 minutes, we typically pop ours on the floor before the boss.

That's one thing our group never had, stun. But I can count on one hand the number of times we really needed it. GA3? Ohi Curaga 3. lol.

It's almost entirely for GoH/Fulimnation, on 20/40 I /BLM for extra nuking power since elemental magic actually can do something to the Zilart ones.
