  • Level Syncing

    Long Time Guys,

Some of my friends are getting back into FFXI and I thought to come with them. However, I am most interested in Level Syncing for parties. What are your experience and reactions to it?

    Thanks,

    Evion

    Re: Level Syncing

All the informaton about how it works here.

As for experiences, it's totally changed the way we level, at least for me and my friends. Except for a few minor gripes (not earning skill ups while synced, losing TP and buffs when the person being synced to levels up) it's made levelling tons easier. Adjustments to exp received from easy prey and decent challenge mobs has made duos and trios much more viable in my opinion, and coupled with level sync, can get pretty good exp "burning" through mobs.

Anyways, good luck and welcome back to ffxi

Yes, I've read up on it. I was wondering how it was actually working in practice for real players. Loosing Buffs and TP huh? I hadn't heard about that.

Tactically, you just make everyone in the Party the same level as the lowest guy right? Does it require any item or equipment to do it? Or, just a menu choice?

I believe level sync is listed under Party on the Party Leader's menu. All they have to do is go to it and go down to the person they are going to sync to and the whole party will sync to the person's level. No special items needed, you just have to be level 10 or higher. When the leader initially sets the cap it causes eveyone to lose any buffs they currently have on so that's why you wait until after the sync to buff the party, kinda like what happens when you go into a BCNM.

Level sync is pretty cool and I've done about 8 parties on Blue Mage since they've added it and only had one bad one. I've also synced down to duo with a friend of mine that was leveling BLU too a few times.

Only a few bad things about Level Sync. 1, if you sync down to lower levels than your current level, where your skills are capped, you wont get any skillups. Most stat effects from higher level equipment, when capped down will be pretty weak and the special effects will be removed (eg. my lvl 75 WAR has about +40 STR. When I am capped down, to 21 Warrior I have about +6 STR. and I think all of the negative stats stay the same so my - stats from Pallas Bracelets show up as regular.) Other bad thing is people don't know how to read /Seacoms to see that you only want to party with lvl 36+ on your job, so you get invites to Qufim or the Jungles from people level 20-31.

Also if you are in a area where mobs appear to you as T or higher, make sure you pay attention to what your high level syncers are doing when unsync'd. Yesterday we unsynced because our lowest person left the party and we were waiting on 2 peeps to show up, while we were waiting there were 4 of us, BLU BLM WAR and WHM. The mages were in the low 40's, I was 38, and the leader WAR was 55. The WAR started leveling H2H on the lizards which slowly started to link 1 by 1, so the WHM/SMN was summoning to help him, but eventually he had about 9 lizards fighting Ramuh lol. After Ramuh and the WAR died the lizzys came after me for curing the WAR and casting a spell or two on one of the lizzys and then went after the mages so we all died lol. It was hard to be mad because the situation was so funny.

          Re: Level Syncing

I've had mostly good experiences with it so far but as mentioned, people who don't read search comments are really bothersome, and really quite stupid because there's usually a good reason why you wouldn't want to be synced below a certain level.
