Re: Why does everything have to be /NIN?

I level it solo because I'm cheap. Problem admitted, and problem solved. You can do the same.

At most I'll duo or trio w/ LS mates, but I still get out cheaper. (Mostly I fucking hate tanking, or partying for the long term in general.) Since Dancer gets no benefit from Katana skill and I can make a few of my own tools to level my Ninjutsu on, I'm more or less set.

Hell, I'd sub Samurai post 60 (thus having both subs available, plus WHM for whatever reason, lulz), but most idiots can't see past the /nin phase and will probably ask me to sub that if I get invites, so I see no point in leveling it, even though it has much more to offer at that point.

Re: Why does everything have to be /NIN?

Im just saying i dont wanna be like half of every body else on ffxi, its so sad that all the jobs now sub ninja, i mean for godsake i saw a whm/nin (i know everyones gonna say o but he was soloing blah blah blah!!!) really i just dont wanna be part of the population that succumbs to the ninja way, and if that means that im arrogant than so be it, and as for the whole im a puller and could get hit ther was someone else that posted in here that wen their main DD's in parties sub nin that they waste more mp on tanks spamming than the THF that didnt sub NIN. Either way I just dont agree with the fact that every job is conforming to nin its jst a sad day....

Fact: You are going to be like half the population anyways.
Fact: /NIN is not the only sub that most jobs "succomb to" (see: /WAR, /THF, /WHM)

Not being efficient for the sake of being different is dumb.

          Hope that made some sense.
Actually, it makes perfect sense >o.0<

I get what you're saying, but...

How many people used Aeris in their parties in FF7?
How many people had a GKatana dual wielding Samurai in FFT?
How many people had Fran in their party in FF12?
How many DD who can wear it have a Hauby in FF11?
How many Pld wear their AF to tank in?
How many two handers go /Sam?

How different are you really from 99% of the other gamers out there?

Alot of people use /nin because it's useful for their job, and it's probably one of the better subs in some situations for alot of jobs. Alot of people use it because they are idiots too. Regardless, there are other options out there, some of which are subpar, others, there may be instances where it is arguable as to which sub is better.

If you wanted to level Paladin would you be complaining about how everyone expected you to sub Warrior? It's not that much different for a Thief.

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

Re: Why does everything have to be /NIN?

/NIN main points are (as everyone else has already said): Shadows and dual wield.

I think everyone is forgetting /NIN has sneak and invis. Prism Powder and Silent Oil are more expensive than buying sneak tools and invis tools. Not to mention people who use /NIN dont have an legit excuse not to have sneak and invis post 30. It also does not pull magic aggro from mobs like Prism Powder and Silent Oil. It is a small added advantage /NIN bring to the table beside the shadows and dual wield.

I just wish they remove the NIN stealth ability and replace it with something more useful.

Re: Why does everything have to be /NIN?

If your in my party and not /nin you best be putting up the numbers to make it viable. Ive seen to many people be bad at it. /NIN is used to extend chains at all levels taking damage means more mp spent and that means down time. If you can't supplement damage you take and give it back to the mob then you best be /nin.

I have seen a lot of bad players who think they can do it without /nin, and those are the players I usually out parse as RDM/NIN. If your not dealing ~1/3 or ~1/4 (in a 4dd group) as xxx/yyy then you best /nin, otherwise youll spend some lonely nights in wg lfp trying to get those merits so you can /sam or /war or /thf and put up the good numbers.

I think we understand what you're saying quite well. We're not hearing anything new though.

You don't want to sub NIN? Fine. Play however you want. But if you don't like people complaining about what you're subbing, then don't complain about what everyone else is subbing.

I am sorry everyone I didnt mean to offend I just got extremly frustrated because I was having an off day while playing nin, after a while I did sub it (I just made alot of money in the AH) and I enjoyed it actually. Sorry for being a hypocrit and stuff, I actuall compared thf/war to thf/nin and nin in the long run can be the better DD. So thanks everyone and sorry.
