Re: Why does everything have to be /NIN?

It's not that expensive to level it to sub job level. I took a character to level 37 recently and I am frickin poor in game. I used one 12 stack (12 stacks of 99 shihei) to level from 22-37. You get Ichi at 12 (which you can quest for free) so you'd probably use another 1/2 stack from 12 to 22 at most. Yes Ni is expensive if you buy it but you can get it from bcnms. Get together some friends/lsmates and have them help you get Ni with your seals and again its free.

Now I wouldn't want to take the job to 75 because THAT would be expensive! Though once you get Ni, you might actually start really liking it. I know I did and I absolutely HATED the job from 1-36.

I level to two most expensive jobs in the game and I still manage pretty well, NIN is not either of those jobs.

Suck it up and level NIN.

Even tho "most expensive" jobs are not that expensive, people are just cheap.

If the job costs more then you would learn to make gil more efficiently, thus making it not really expensive in the end.

Re: Why does everything have to be /NIN?

For DNC, I agree NIN is best for tp gain and soloing. But MNK is a good alternative for parties especially before 20.

I'd argue on THF though. I've talked to many who think there are better subjobs at later levels for thief than NIN like /war. Since I personally hate the /nin trend that applies to nearly all jobs now, I stopped leveling it at 18 (high enough to sub DNC to a subbable level) and left it at that. Now I do just fine as THF/DNC. Those that invite me to pt are usually surprised at how well it works. And if I don't get a pt invite, it's no big deal. I usually don't even bother seeking and just go off and kill stuff by my lonesome. :3
We know the characters aren't real, we just don't care. :3

Re: Why does everything have to be /NIN?

For DNC, I actually would consider /SAM to be the best, but it really only comes into its own past 60. People who favor /NIN are the ones that already have a tendancy to overcure, which gets them more hate. They're also the DNCs that try to be main healers, which the job really isn't built to be.

DNC is a supplemental healer and DD, meant to take pressure off the healers on the backline and also to enfeeble the mob for DDs with steps.

Re: Why does everything have to be /NIN?

The reason why /NIN is a popular grinding sub is Utsusemi.

It doesn't matter if you can do more damage with /WAR, more versatile as /DNC, more effective as /Idunnoinsertjobhere.

They want shadowsshadowsshadows. Not much really to do with how the job works or how skilled you are, it's the damage reduction.

It's funny because /WAR is just as ubiquitous during the level grind but no one ever complains "why does everything have to be /WAR."

Re: Why does everything have to be /NIN?

NIN is not that expensive. as a sub job. Try tking RNG or COR 75 those jobs have to dish out large sums of money to get to 37 leveling something like NIN to 37 is a joke in comparison.

                        some things for NIN

                        1. you can solo nealry the whole way there pretty fast, and you do not need to buy large quantities of tools is you sub appropriatley.

                        2. Buy in Bulk a stack of 12, stacks of utsu tools should last you a very very very long time.

                        3. Try to find a friend to party with, dual blink tanking early levels is the best way to level NIN, and it saves alot of headaches for your parties.

The reason it is done is efficency, MP slows things down, the less that is needed to spent the longer chains go, the longer chains go the faster exp comes in, the faster exp comes in the less time you need to spend grinding, and spending money.

I use to hate /NIN not because of the cost but because of the general nature it is used for TP Burns which sees the skill level of parties drop, and lots of people whose level drops, never recover.

Re: Why does everything have to be /NIN?

That's how I feel when I get on as 70+WAR/SAM and I get a invite and they say sub Ninja and then I use Great Axe anyways lol. At 74 I stopped leveling Warrior because I got Ninja to 38 (Dont ask, we had a idiot puller that wouldn't stop pulling when I tried to leave at 37.) but I dont have Utsusemi: Ni which I could buy but I wanna save the gil for something more useful. Since I'm leveling BLU I figure, I can get my NIN and RDM friends to help me do a bcnm for it.

At lower levels I didnt really have the money for NIN as a subjob or a main job, so I subbed MNK for warrior up into the 40's, mind you I was a Great Sword Warrior. I think around that time I had ninja at about level 19. I got a party invite at around level 44 to tank and I ended up leaving the party because with me leveling Great Sword and not keeping my axes leveled, I couldn't hit anything with axe which they wanted me to dual weild, plus I was gimped in the SJ department. I think that was the one time when I said I need to get my stuff together, so I got Axe leveled somehow, and I ungimped NIN which made me feel better.

Do you have a guide or a link to a guide please? I'll do this when I get home if this is indeed true
Just sub WHM or DNC or SCH or BLU and kill EP-DC mobs. Avoid mobs with slow or crit WS.

I wouldn't say you can solo easily to 37 since easily implies quickly as well. But you can get to 20 quite easily.
