Take that with a grain of salt. From the looks of it, the 18hr fight was a gross misunderstanding of how to kill the NM by the group attempting it. At the risk of rehashing this discussion, suffice it to say no video game should ever require players to endure that. Even SE isn't that stupid...

Well I wasn't just talking about Absolute Virtue, I was also talking about Pandemonium Warden... which has 8 White Mages following it around during one of its incarnations.... so yeah... not only do you have to defeat the Warden, but you have to figure out a way to either defeat or silence all 8 White mages in order to defeat that incarnation... not the easiest thing to do.

FFXI may not have the best graphics, but there are some pretty amazing cutscenes.

Yeah there may have been some serious misunderstanding about how to kill him... but for the moment the only one of the two that we have had released the information (and I use the term lightly) on how to kill them was Virtue!!!

few people(if any play) an MMORPG for the graphics. Heck there's still people playing Ultmia Online and Everquest 1...both of wich look pretty bad by today's standards.

FFXI looks ok no matter what you play it on but don't expect it to look like Age of Conan or something...

The last online game I played on my xbox 360 was PSU, and it looked simply hideous on my 47 inch lcd. I was worried FFXI would look the same, as an older game, but it looks really nice in HD! Even though its an older game, the weather effects, day and night cycles, etc look very nice. The grainy look doesnt bother me, it almost adds a "nostalgic" quality to the game. The detail put into everything looks great, I honestly would give this game a "quite nice" rating graphic wise. The fact its blown up so huge and still looks smooth (PSU was jaggy hell) impressed me.

But it sounds like youre grading more on time-consumingness at this point anyways...and this game does seem quite time consuming unfortunately. Im used to "time consuming" meaning 2 hours, so Im not sure Ill last in this game

2 hours....maybe, maybe not. If you want to accomplish a lot in that 2 hours, then maybe not. If you are patient and realize that you will going slow in the game because of your limited timeframe, then maybe.

Just to be blunt, if graphics are mainly what you're looking for in FFXI, you're going to miss out. The graphics aren't bad, but are definitely dated for PC games now-a-days. However, FFXI doesn't need to rely on graphics to accomplish its task of being an enthralling game. While I would recommend scaling the graphics up on your PC, don't expect the game to turn into anything particularly amazing.

to be honest, i still find FFXI graphics to be amazing. Especially in the higher lvl zones + the high lvl spells.

The graphics on 360 are a lot better than Ps2's i mean a LOT. Maybe the graphics aren't all that different but the resolution is what makes it look beautiful. Ps2 is all dark and grainy and will hurt your eyes, guarantee lol. I played on Ps2 for years and then made the switch to 360 and was amazed.

Guild Wars is dead although its graphics are better then FFXI.
