In anticipation of the Capping change...

I'm interested to see what different people think are the points at which they most enjoyed their job. I think with the new capping changes, we're likely to see people playing at the interval where they felt their job was most desired, effective, or at a point where they find some special sentimental attachment.

I think for me, as a former BLM, the moment I would go back to was when I first learned Freeze and started magic bursting it. My old leveling group would build the party around popping off Freeze MBs, back when people knew how to skillchain and burst, before the mass onset of down syndrome in the community. That was GREAT.

I think as a former RNG, I'd say that RNG's best moment would be the first 1-3 levels of knowing Sidewinder. Boy did that ever make me a happy camper.

When level capping comes around, what eras in your jobs do you plan on returning to? WHMs wanna go back to Qufim when they first learned raise? RDMs going back to CN right after they learned Refresh?

I thought I was the only person who enjoyed that as WHM, everyone else I ever spoke so seems to think I was crazy. Ah memories of cutting my WHM teeth in that dungeon. /dream

I also enoyed BRD immenselys before 70 (arrow burns in Sky) and well basically anything before the entire of ToAU which totally destroyed any fun left in BRD IMHO. Maybe I would go back to the high 40->55 level and have some fun doing some classic mobs.

Would also like to get some major RDM action again at any level before ToAU, I really enjoyed being the only mage in a party of 6, go taru MP!

Buy myself a Twicer and go play BNS (Big Numbers Syndrome) WAR/THF 31.

Also gonna mess around in the 20s as War/Drg and War/Rng.

Given that I used a Polearm 'til 30 the 1st time (and all the gear&accessories you'd expect such a WAR to wear), I like the idea of replaying the levels of Warrior that I effectively "missed".

OH! And I'ma do War/Blu tanking.

I always felt bad for my WHMs in Onzozo. They were doing such a good job I thought it must've sucked to be them. Guess not.

There's not much for me to want to go back to on PLD because my job only goes uphill from Lv.1. Not that I wouldn't enjoy going back to a lower level camp for a change of pace, just that there isn't any particularly compelling level.

Perhaps I can keep BRD in Kazham indefinitely this time around and build up some kind of sure-fire macro set for auto-translated explanations of Ballad positioning.

Actually, I remember the time around Finale level being really nice. First time I started feeling busy enough to not get the itch to try and melee for a few seconds.

Yep, paralyze, silena, paralyze, silena.....ahh the memories. About the only thing I did NOT like was getting people to camp and the other parties that would come camp on top of you. Oh and remember teaming up when Ose would pop? ahhhhh the old days....

Indeed ... you know I was in the tank party on JoL last night and I was the one doing all the Silena, Paralyna, Stona, etc.? The other WHM just wasn't picking up on all the status effects.

Lab. separates the men from the boys as far as WHMs go. You can tell when a WHM doesn't have a lot of practice taking off status effects. It's part of the reason melees feel the need to tell you everything that's wrong with them, because most mages suck. Makes me sad.

Let's see, I really liked RDM in the 40's, when I was still meleeing but keeping a full refresh/debuff cycle. Dispelling buffs as soon as they went up ... those were the days. Now I never even use the enfeebling spells I spent so much time capping. :/

LOL That happened to me recently on JOL too. I was on my blm in the main ally and I saw a tank say "{Silena}{please}" so I ripped it off. Then I got a /t from the same tank asking me to keep an eye out because the whm wasn't doing her job. So I was doing the majority of status effects for the tanks and dd's while mb'ing sc's. Whm wasn't too thrilled with me though and let me know it.

RDM, Pre-70, hell maybe pre 60/65. I hate meriting on RDM (haven't done it in well over a year now), but I loved "old-school" NORMAL RDM leveling.

I suspect a lot of the trad-party enthusiasts might find some use in heading back to around 60? At any rate, it should be interesting to try various things, but while I'm vaguely nostalgic about a few things on THF, going back to needing to SATA might be pretty painful; it was hard enough to get people to cooperate with a THF pre-ToAU, it seems impossible now. Hell, I have people deliberately screw up my TAs for fear of running out of shadows too soon, and inadvertently screw up my SAs by standing at odd angles and stealing hate from each other.

Damn, I miss the days when tanks didn't constantly get hate ripped off them every time the SAM looks at the mob funny.

I suppose there would be some significant nostalgia value in taking DRK back to dunes/qufim levels and tearing the hell out of mobs with Deathbringer, though.

Edit: I suppose the ideal range for my THF now would be anything that's high enough for Assassin (60+) but too low for the party to want to go after imps. God, how I hate fighting imps on THF.

Back to the 40's-50 as RDM when we acctually played as a RDM and not a rip-off WHM. Also, those levels thrived on Skill Chains to make or break chains, I miss tactical partying.

If I were to go to any level it would be them....
