As much I would've rather seen this thread being merged with the other one I guess I'll just repost what I said last time.

I think this is SE's way to (very sadistically) punish people stupid enough to sacrifice so much time and effort to beat a NM just for the rare chance of getting an item only to fight for it like dogs after (and if) it drops.

And bragging rights is a reason 10 times more stupid than that.

Personally, I think that the "hippies" at SE were hoping for cooperation and working together between ALL the people of Vana'diel in order to take down mobs like this. I think they wanted fights like this to cross ls borders...kinda like that Xmas tree event back in '05. Sad thing is SE....the community is like that.

My point was in the context that they want many people to gather and as people tire you swap them out for other people. But that not all of the people there would be in your ls, just people from all over Vana'diel saying "I'm ready! Put me in coach!"

I think SE simply lost all creativity with this, much like with AV.


I don't mind super, nigh-impossibly hard bosses as long as there is some kind of strategy(ies) that can be used to defeat it within a reasonable amount of time. Like, during X phase you need Y jobs to take Z action to proceed (again, without making it take a whole fucking day).


You people who are pro PW need to remember 1st and foremost this is a fucking game and it's about time SE started treating it like one.

Will you get any chance at the dropped items if you touched the NM in any way but are outside the alliance when it dies? No.
Will you get the title if you are outside the alliance when the NM is dead? No.
Will there be any kind of reward (gamewise) for you having fought that fight without being in the alliance when the NM dies -if it ever does-? No.

That alone is more than enough for me to discard the possibility of SE thinking of it as a server event, not to mention many other aspects of the fight that just don't check.

Maybe a multiregion end-game LS with members from all time zones would qualify. But does that kind of end-game LS even exist?

While I'm a big proponent of not doing things that aren't fun for you, any MMORPG activity that takes more than 2-3 hours at a time should really be outlawed. It's really absurd to put things like "don't let our thrilling experience get in the way of your real life" and then require the equivalent amount of time investiture as a full-time job to do certain activities. That's simply asinine.

I would actually agree with this logic if there were a sign in front of PW that says "Hey kids, don't fight me unless you have
18+ hours to sit there and not care about your own well being!".
