FFXI History

I didn't start playing FFXI until around October 2006. Since the game started in 2001 (I'm pretty sure), a lot has changed as far as expansions, jobs, rules, nerfs, etc...

Can a player that has been there since the beginning give a broad summary of the major changes/updates/ that has happened over the last 7-8 years, to give someone like me an idea of the order which things were made to be done?

I know its a weird question, but I'd kinda like to get on track and get some stuff accomplished, not according to storyline, but timeline of the game...

SE makes update details available online.

More importantly, how would knowing what changed help get 'stuff accomplished.' Missions and quests dictate what order they should be done in - if a specific order is required. There is no reason you can't get all the ToAU missions done however before finishing the Zilart missions, and quite frankly, you're not going to be any better or worse off for doing it that way.

If you go to the "Developer's Room" on the viewer on the FFXI page you will see an option within the DR that says "Update History". You can see for yourself every single update they've ever done in there. (it's long mind you)

Yea, but as far as 'what came first', regarding expansions, jobs, special features, etc...I guess I'm asking more of "what are the most important things that came of each expansion"

Can you ask a more subjective question like "what's better, Coke or Pepsi?"

Too many updates to list, no criteria given to evaluate what's "important." I could write two whole paragraphs right now about the (numerous) updates PLD has been given. Another 2 parragraphs could be dedicated to SAM and DRK each, easily.

Also, what Mhurron said earlier.

Again, way too much to list. You're basically asking to know every update. Might as well look it up yourself.

Me too. When 3 different people tell you to look up the info yourself, maybe it's a hint to, you know, look the info up yourself instead of asking impossible questions.
