  • Moving from 360 to PC.

Hey all, I had a question about how FFXI partitions the xbox 360 harddrive, and how I could uninstall the data. I ask because I bought FFXI for the PC, for while it was decent on the 360, I simply didn't have enough space.. (The harddrive is insanely small.. I got the 20 gig HD, which is actually only about 13 gigs... dont ask how, but it's ridiculous.)

Anyway, thanks for any and all help!

I think it's under the system blade in the navigator, but it's odd that it's using THAT much space....

Oh, I'll go check that right now, I must have missed it before..

By 13 gigs, I mean the total size of the HD is only 13gigs. I think FFXI takes up about 7/8 gigs.

(I say 13 gigs, because that's what I recall from when I first got the system.)

Okay, I'm at the system blade, but I don't see anything to delete FFXI. In fact, it seems like I'm only looking at the part of the harddrive that does not contain FFXI.

I'm not horribly familiar with how games or programs do this, so did the partition effectively split my harddrive into two distinct HD's (on the same disk.. am I making sense? lol) And now, for whatever reason, I do not have access to the section containing FFXI?

I heard once that the way FFXI/POL works with the Xbox360, to uninstall it, you need to basically reformat your drive.

Yeah, that's what it seems like now... dammit. I was hoping I wouldn't have to.. well, I have an external where I guess I can back all my stuff on.. :[ Damn.

Double posting to bump the topic, just to see if there is any other solution..

It doesnt seem like I can copy any of my game saves or gamer profiles to my external Harddrive... it doesnt recognize it as a legitimate source I guess.. (I would have to buy Memory cards, I suppose?)
I really dont want to reformat and lose all my progress throughout all my games... :/ Ugh. If anyone has any other possible solutions, I'll be all ears. I really need some more space on my HD though, and freeing up the space FFXI is taking would help a lot.

Edit: I found a fix! Okay so apparently, as long as you still have the install disc, you'll be able to uninstall just fine. I have yet to do it, but snooping around the FFXI thread at Xbox.com, that seems to be the ticket (for anyone else that may be wondering). Now to wait for it to come in so I can reinstall it on my PC! :D
