  • Two Years of Troubles

Hey, I am new here. However, I have been attempting to play ffxi for about two years. I seem to have had a great deal of trouble in the area of leveling up. My highest level is 26. I really want to progress further in this game, but I wont have overly large amounts of time to play between work and school but I do plan on playing it the space between. Could anybody possibly help?

What job(s) do you play and which expansions do you have installed?

Well for people that have issues with having time to play,

Beastmaster worked well for me, Being able to solo when I wish and farm an not having need to party, For me it means I collect alot of treasure and see much of the world many players just pass by.
I too have limited play time. I average about 3/4 hours every other day and sometimes just randomly log on to see if things have sold on ah.

Also beastmaster can be lonely ifyou dont make friends, But that's easily solved if you find a nice social linkshell.

Good luck to you my friend

I play as a WAR and have all four expansions. I dont have any adv jobs unlocked because I have yet to make it to 30, so beastmaster is out of the question for the time being.

Ok, well, I'd stick with WAR for the time being since its the closest you've got to 30. If you have little time to play, I'd consider a healer, tank, support or solo class instead of a melee one. Less time waiting for PTs if you go this route, which may be for the best given your lack of time. Melee classes face lots and lots of competition since every one and their grandma likes to hit stuff.

          Soloable jobs would be:

NIN, DNC, BLU, DRG (if you have mage subs), BST, SMN, BLM and PUP are all good soloists from the earliest levels.

BRD, WHM, DNC, COR, RDM and SCH are all welcome additions to most parties and usually see less time waiting for parties that most. COR and DNC melee also commonly melee in these PTs, though COR does ranged attacks most of its career.

Tanks are actually the shortest class in supply, so PLD and NIN are something to consider, particularly since you've already levelled WAR this far and its a main subjob for bother. You would have to look to /NIN as a sub regardless for most jobs these days.

Main thing for many of these is that you've still got some work ahead of you where subjobs are concerned. The most highly invitable jobs also sometimes require the most subjob preparation while certain melee jobs might not so much.

So, what jobs are you looking to play as?

Cool, cool. Thanks for the info. I am most looking forward to unlocking COR, SAM, and DRG. Is there any possible way for me to solo my WAR the 4 lvls to 30?

You can probably solo it a little from 26-30 but it will be very slow going. At that level even EP can really put a hurting on you, and you'll have to rest often.

SAM will be the easiest for invite of the three you've mentioned, with COR coming in second.

I am just worried that since I have small snippets of time, that, for the time being, a party may be out of the question. My G-axe needs lvling as well, so it can sometimes hamper my atk power. Any ideas of where I should level and how I should go about doing so?

SAMs refresh, dispel and give buffs now?

SAM is OK with /WAR for for most part, but long term you're also going to want to consider NIN, THF, DNC and RNG subjobs for it.

DRG makes use of THF, WAR, SAM and mage subs the best, the mage subs being for solo outings.

COR you're going to want WHM, RNG and DNC at minimum, maybe NIN as well for pulling.

As for soloing, there's really no easier way that partying to 30, really. You could do worms and move up to bats in Korrakola Tunnel after a bit, but it would be very slow EXP. Best just to flag up in Kazham and see what comes.

At least on Hades, people still don't really invite Corsairs until later levels. I hardly ever party with them, myself. There really aren't many around. A lot of people love SAMs because of their heavy damage output.

Bloody bolts might be a good idea for soloing, if you can hit things with them. Try to solo and farm at the same time, too...
