I love parody threads. Let's have some fun.

Standard discussion here, everyone knows those lootwhores who join, don't get to lot everythhing, call the leader a selfish prick and then take off months later with whatever they can get their hands on, a few of the older members, and start their own linkshell! Yay fun!

Or how about that new server transfer (okay not so new) thingy, lets leaders ditch you at the drop of the hat after getting what they want.

Pretty funny actually happened to an HNM shell on Hades, the loot-whore leaders picked up one day and transferred to another server to start another ls where they could loot-whore freely. And the idiots left over repearled and started the same loot-whoring ways with their new leaders. We're talking WHMs lotting Ridill loot-whoring. Oh yeah. (To this person's credit they eventually leveled into their Ridill and E-body, though of course IMO that still doesn't make it right. JOB PRIORITIES, PEOPLE! But hey if their ls allowed it then ... whatever.)

So guys tell me, what kind of things ruin linkshells? Lovers spats? Leaders server hopping with the bank? Above all, this topic should be a good source of entertainment at WM3K's expense (if only because he's been on this "fun with" trip today).

Wiping to your first Kirin. I've seen a huge # of upstart Sky shells talk all big and bad, pop their first Kirin, and eat dirt...then promptly break up within a week. Substitute 'Kirin' and 'Sky' for 'Fafnir' and 'HNM', same shit.

Incidently at least 4 of those Sky shells were led by the same person, no clue how this moron keeps getting members when he's ran at least 6 shells into the ground.

Oh man when you said lovers spats I remembered one old shell. The shell holder and his g/f ran it. That woman was a rip roaring 100% of the time PMS b***h. So of course the only way to get anywhere in the shell was to kiss the woman's ass. Oh when she wasn't around, we'd have some AWESOME "conversations" on vent. Anyways, every friggin time they had a lovers spat one of them would come on:

Spurned Lover: Sorry guys, I just can't take it anymore. I'm quitting the game. I can't play when my entire life is falling down around me.

1/2 of the LS sucking ass: NO DON'T LEAVE! We love you! What's wrong? It will get better give it some time. (blah blah blah blah)

This happened.......every........single........time......... and they did this about once a friggin week......ok every 2 weeks but it was freakin a LOT!

Leaving an LS due to unfair treatment of some members by officers (being told they couldn't lot over others on their main) and "mysterious" disappearing gil from the LS bank. Tell one friend still in LS you think some of the officers are stealing gil from the bank. Week later, poof goes the LS.

I absolutely love when people who are dating start a linkshell together. It absolutely amazes me how they could not possibly see that maybe they'd break up and then the linkshell would be in utter chaos.

Even in social lses, couples at the heart of it are bad news. I have nothing against dating in-game (hell that's how CK and I met!) but you're just asking for it if you A. trust your lover with your account info, unless you know them personally, B. dual-lead the LS in any capacity, and C. start interior LS wars with members over who is right in your lover's spat.*** One person inevitably feels that the entire ls has turned against them and will leave. The rest of the ls's morale will be so low that it won't even be worth it to stick around. I've seen so many linkshells fall apart from this kind of shit, and also people leaving the game.

***Seriously don't get other people involved! They will feel awkward about it all and it will only make relations in the linkshell that much more tense!

Re: Fun With RUINING a Linkshell &gt

This couple in my g/f's social had almost applied to our shell, luckily the ended up not doing so. The couple are server transfers, joined 2 or 3 terrible /shout Sky shells(including one of the ones I mentioned above), after failure of said shells they promptly declared that 'all Ramuh endgame shells are fail'. When g/f told them about my shell the guy hits me up in /t, says his g/f is tired of putting in tons of work and never getting any drops for it. Fair enough, I explain how our drop system works, which I believe to be one of the fairer(most fair?) ones I've been a part of...

He then goes on to ask how we handle KSNM drops. I say we aren't currently doing KS99 but generally a portion of the orb holder's loot has to go into a pool which is split among anyone who helped but didn't have an orb. He says no...KSNM30, his g/f is trying to get a Dissector.

            ...

            ...

            ...

At any rate, I'm in the other room w/ g/f the one night watching the ls chat of her social, and it's just the g/f of the couple constantly bitching about random shit, then saying how she basically wants tons of ZNM gear but doesn't want to put in any work for it. Her b/f suggests, in LS chat, "Well hon, you should start a ZNM LS so that they can get the gear for you". I'm dying for her to do so, so that I can see how it turns out.

I hate couples that apply to an LS together. Apply separately, please. You're two different people. The only time it's acceptable for two names to be on an app is when they're all your dual-boxed characters.

Re: Fun With RUINING a Linkshell &gt

Joined a LS years back, it seemed pretty awesome. We claimed King V, but died viciously. That was hilarious. We were all bitching in /t at each other at how there were complete morons.

Then we go to camp Simy, and of course, don't get claim.

Wasn't a bad day till the leader told us that since we didn't ACOOMPLISH anything, we didn't get any points.

                  Hell broke lose.

One of my RL friends played "Superior Knowledge Card" and the LS Leader countered with "I'm LS Leader and My Word is Law Card".

He kicked my friend, then I gladly left the LS seconds later.

That LS isn't around, nowadays anyway.

Re: Fun With RUINING a Linkshell &gt

The funny thing to me is of all the million tiny shells that come and go on Ramuh, tons have talked shit to us, one for a while was considered our 'rival' I guess(their core members were half of the shell I was in with my current shell leader, most of the other half became our shell), and it seemed like they were doing much better than us. Chapeau dropped for their version of me, their leader got their Aegis(which our leader is about 3/4 to), they claimed a bunch of ground kings and beat Dynamis Lord.

About 8 months later, people start getting pissed because their leader never discloses the LS bank amounts, triggers go missing while they get tons of shiny new AH-able stuff, they CFH an Aspi, more members get pissed because leader alters members' points at their will to help their pets, leader breaks shell and jumps servers.

And the one member from them that joined us discloses that the LS leader had to pay another shell to get their fragment because despite having 50 members and clearing Dynamis Lord, they couldn't beat the shield, and furthermore couldn't beat Windy because their leader couldn't figure out how to...while we've cleared Windy and reached Animated Shield with 16, lol. For all the shells that have popped up and talked shit, we're one of very few smaller endgame shells that has managed to actually last, we're coming up on the 1 year mark next month.

When my son, my husband, and I app to ls's we always app seperately. If the app asks if you know anyone in the ls, I will put down my son or husbands name if they are in it but I don't say that they are my relation. Thats up to them if they want the leadership to know it. I don't expect to ride anyones shirttails to get into a ls. I know some people have to though because I've seen b/f and g/f apps where one of them sucked HORRIBLY. We had one guy that would dual box during fights. She would be there but as soon as the fight started, he'd have to take over her character. She was THAT bad. She always wanted him to level her character, camp stuff and get it for her, etc. She had 8 lvl 75 jobs and she probably did enough exping for one.

Re: Fun With RUINING a Linkshell &gt

One way to ruin a LS:

Leader: "I know! I'll make everyone sackholders!"

People get power-mad going inviting everyone they see, you get idiots, assholes, noobs and the like saying stuff like:

                        "sum1 PL me"
                        "Y wont u PL me!"
"can u lend me sum gil plz"
"none of u help me evar"

You get a headache and you leave..

Couples joint-leading a LS is always the LS's downfall too. I've seen it plenty of times, more often than not when such a thing happens the LS splits into 2 new LS's and those left in the middle have 2 new LS's and get shouted at from one for having the other.

I've never been in a LS with a bank.

With that said, it's usually drama that'll get you and yours.

Re: Fun With RUINING a Linkshell &gt

I've always wanted to try rotating sacs in an ls. The reason being because sacs complain that they always lead stuff and then other players don't learn certain aspects of the game. Sometimes they would like a break from being a sac. LS members complain that sacs get too much power after a while. And on and on...

So how about you have a shellholder and 2 other permanent sacs. (Amount of sacs really depends on ls size, and I'm aiming at a larger size ls in this example.) Then have 3 rotating sacs. How you would choose the rotating sacs would be to have everyone that would like a shot at being a sac gather together somewhere quiet in game. Then have everyone /random and highest or lowest get to be a sac for a predetermined amount of time. Let's just say 2 weeks. Then 2 weeks later, rinse and repeat. Vary the times you do this in case some people are in different time zones.

I know the system isn't perfect but I've never tested it out either. I just thought it would be a good way to train people to lead and would help in times when there were possibly no sacs on. Also the favoritism when it comes to voting about people in the ls might not be as blatant. /shrug

What about the person who thinks he can do better than the current leadership, thinks he knows more than the current leadership, and/or has a better reward system than the current leadership and causes a mutuany which ruins the LS.

I have only had two endgame LSs and the first break because of the mutuany. The second one purged all noob/loot greedy/did like the point system/etc. and start from the ground up with the left over members. The sad part was a few months later my son was born and I list all my extra free time. They understood and said there will always be a place for me there. I hope they are still together when I am able to come back and spend 3-5 hours in a place.

Which reminds me, I was told in my first LS to go blm/thf. The reason they had was to damage(nuke) the statues to get TH1 on them to get more frequent drops. Is that really true? I never asked anyone in my second LS about that in fear of being called/thought of as a noob.
