Which Crafs are top dog now?

I've got my THF fairly high now (65) and really want to start making serious money, preferably through a mix of farming and crafting.

Now that said, I really don't know which crafts make the most these days. I know goldsmithing has pretty well gone to hell (unless you're already @ the top levels) and my friends all say Smithing and Cloth make the most gil.


Right now I'm leaning on cloth (I have 69 alchemy and wood, and 95 cooking on my alt) since I can't make much gil off my current crafts. I've been farming in Miseraux coast lately for very good NPC gil, but I can't reliably desytnh those damned Gigas socks with 53 cloth skill. Will more skill make a big difference or should I focus on getting moghancement: desynth?

What about taking up a different craft like smithing or bone? Which ones make the most gil these days?

78 Alchemy and I never go broke (unless I'm leveling Alchemy).

Honestly, no one is going to give you a strong push to any craft and with FFXIAH, its just not hard to do your own research.

I'm in the middle of skilling up my bone and leather (I can't believe how much interaction there is between bone and the other crafts O. O) and believe me, I've done plenty of research.

I can never find anything really worth synthing out of alchemy or even cooking for much profit (compared to my farming options) so that's why I asked. So far I'm leaning heavily on raising my cloth skill to better desynth those socks.

Alchemy and Cooking are crafts of volume. You make a lot of things that have some profit, but there is no really big ticket item you make (for the most part).

The convenience of being able to sit down and make X of something instead of going out and hoping for X of something else to drop is why I stick with crafting and trying gardening instead of farming.

Okay I'm going to raise Cloth and Smithing to at least 60 since desynth = insane coinage.


Now for my biggest problem; can I fit enough Tarutaru Stools in my MH to get the 101+ lightning influence I need to max out the moghancement effect? Trying to max out via Dark Element furnishings won't work, so I figure it's going to have to be from about 51 stools. But can I even fit that many in my moghouse? Is there a better way?

I'm not that worried about the gil (to an extent) because once I have that overwhelming energy I'll be racking it in big time. It's getting there that bothers me (I also currently have several Bahuts I need to axe since they are 10 Earth each and are also holding a lot of my stuff ; ; )

If you know how to make gil, you make good profit regardless of the craft. If you don't know how to make gil, it won't matter which craft you pick.

Which one is absolutely the best money maker? That probably changes from one day to the next, and varies from one server to another.

Yes, 51 tarutaru stools will fit inside an MH. That's how I had mine way back when.

Okay i've been looking at my things again, I have the 3 christmas items (dream coffer, platter, stocking) that make up 9 lighting & desynth.

That means I need 46 stools, unless I cough up the gil for a Thulible and/or Tsahyan Mask >< (rather not)

Can I still do it?

Two of the Christmas items are actually smaller than stools, so you're still good.
