Good ways to make money early on

Hey guys ive seen theres a few topics on this but not entirely what im after.

Ive just hit level 6 and have all the same equipment as i did when i started. what is the best way to earn money as a white mage at my level? ive sold a few crystal stacks but even dia in the AH is like 2k. (i havent bought it i wanna see how much it is in shops)

Please make all answers as n00b friendly as possible hehe thanx

most spells are cheaper from NPC especially low level spells. Low level gears 1-15 are also cheaper from NPC.

I used to buy cure from NPC and put on AH for easy profit myself.... believe me, open your map and explore the city. The magic/armor/weapon shops are all marked on your map for you.

horde crystals and sell them in stacks of 12 on the AH. NPC all other drops (sell in stores) you can get good gil this way. (Some items sell well on AH, beehive chips, honey, Silk Thread(i think crawlers in windurst area))

buy spells and gear from NPC's until level 15 (when rings and earrings become more usable).

You can also take on gardening its easy to do and can yeild some decent money returns.

what about clothcraft? ive been farming yagudos with my buddy for the necklaces and turning them into 3 x grass spool and then 1 x grass cloth, ive managed to make one headgear from them which is quite cool but cant use it until lvl 11

Crafting has the potential to net you rather large sums of cash. Unfortunately, this really isn't the case with most crafts until you have a very high skill. Leveling certain crafts require large amounts of gil and time.

Put effort into crafting if it interests you, but don't expect big payoffs until later, and smaller payoffs until you have some experience with the craft.

I don't know if this is mentioned in Nandito's links, but Wild Onions. They sell very fast for 10k a stack on Caitsith and only drop from Goblin Thugs which are good exp fodder up to level 10. They spawn in abundance in the middle and south towers in East Sarutabaruta and in the north tower of West Sarutabaruta in order of difficulty. They're mixed in with Goblin Weavers that you can kill from grass and cotton thread and cloth you can use to practice your clothcrafting on, too.

The Northwest Tower in Sarutabaruta owns every other place for levelling up from 5-10. Bats and Goblins, lots of wind and fire crystals and wings and onions and random cloth.

And once you can take out Goblin Fishers, kill them all (near rivers and lakes) to get free fishing rods - bait is cheap and the fishing is easy - even rusty buckets sell to NPCs or on the AH, Some of the rusty's can be crafted and sold, some just sold - and fish sells. Moat Carps go for a few K (2K - 3K for a stack of 12, depending on demand and supply, Your server may vary, terms and conditions apply). It's pretty easy to make low level moniez - but you have to accept the fact that you just can't exp all the time, you have to invest time in gilz. Farming mobs for good drops later is good too (Crawlers as soon as you can take them are good - silk threads go for 200+ gil each from NPC's depending on fame and Crawler Calculus can be traded in groups of 3 for 600 gil to the Dhalmel farmer in Windy Waters).

And you can buy everything you need from NPC's until your 15-20 depending - you also might want a mule in the other two starting cities, it can make buying things cheaply from NPC's much easier (depending on your nations conquest standing, you might not have all the things you need available where you are - this is especially true of magic scrolls).

The Hubsband and I usually fish on New Moon and Full Moon (VD time) as the fishing is best at those times - and we EXP most of the rest of the time (tho I try to work on crafting at least once a week) so its about 1/3 earning gilz and 2/3 killin stuff (maybe 60/40, maybe, we gots needs, and they are expensive!).

lol ok thanks for the info guys, im definately guna hit up those towers in sarutabaruta i need the onions for the next Star Onion Brigade mission anyways and cloths never go amiss for me. Got my red mage up to level 6 quite quickly soloing last night so i think i might use that in there when i hit level 7

Crystal stacks are already doing well for me, been farming the rarebs for earth crystals sold 4 stacks now at 1k a stack.

On the subject of crystals does the drop rate link to the difficulty of the mob for example.... decent challenge rareb has an 60% chance of dropping and an easy prey rareb has a 40% chance? or maybe even vice versa

Just thought i would say thanks again you guys are really helping me out on here makes the game alot more enjoyable to know there is a decent community out there willing to help n00bs lol

You don't get anything for mobs that check as "Too Weak to be Worthwhile". EP an above have a chance to drop crystals equally.

On crystals....check the AH carefully here. That stack of Earth Crystals that sells for 1000G may not be the way to go....the individuals may be selling for 150-200 apiece. If you are low on loot and have AH slots to burn, consider selling individuals rather than stacks. They often go just as quickly (prices vary per server/AH, so stacks may still be better, but it's a good idea to check just in case).

I assume you are Windurstian to hit the towers (bravo btw!), so thinking of things in your area, don't forget birds and mandragora. Cornettes and 2-Leaf Mandragora Buds can drop from mandies and you can turn these in for some gil and fame in a repeatable quest in Windurst Walls (I believe it's Yoran Oran, but someone might want to check me there). Also, birds drop Bird Feathers and Bird Eggs, and you just happen to be right where the cooking and clothcraft guilds are! Both of these sell quickly.

When you get a little higher level, consider bees in Saruta/Giddeus. Beehive chips and Honey drop frequently and sell for decent gil also.

Oh, and DO NOT TOSS THOSE BEASTMENS SEALS! They may seem useless now, but later they can be worth good money. I wish someone had told me that when I first started
