Hmm, that's odd. I usually go as RDM too, but I find little problems to cap/near-cap xp. You've gotta try keep continuous flow of actions going the entire time.
Using this as a guide, you'll see that there's an xp cap per minute, so a spike of activity will not net as many xp as a continuous flow of one. For example, a bunch of Cure IVs in short time vs. Cure IIs over a longer period of time. Using curing/enhancing other peoples/enfeebling spells help too. A Mob slept is a mob not killing somebody else. And with buffs, you should be able to handle one that wake up with little hassle. Put something in /say like "100% Quadav {Asleep}", and most people will understand.
Also, you should be able to fill the "blank time", time that there're no enemies around. Curing NPCs, for example. Light staff can help here, (more hp cured for the same mp).
