  • Re: So... who got owned thisweek in Campaign?

On Midgard, it seems that one zone is finally taken outside the cities ... Sauromugue. Nobody can seem to make a dent anywhere else. Everybody seems to devote themselves to city defense, though, and I have to wonder just how much help that is...

      On Odin:

Sandoria is back to 5 territories.
Windurst is up to 3 territories.
      Bastok just has Bastok.

Windy seems to be focusing its efforts on Meriphataud for now, which is probably for the best since Fort Karugo-Narugo is one of the hardest to claim no matter which side you're talking about. Once Windy gets that fort back, it pretty much takes care of itself.

Bastok tried for Pashhow, but hardly made a dent in it, I think it would be best for them to retake Rolanberry Fields first, but I don't really understand why no one is really trying there. Its the easiest one to get to if you don't have town Warps, you just go from present day Rolanberry Fields.

San'doria has begun its efforts to reclaim the Necropolis, but whether or not they care enough to save it remains to be seen.

I'm curious if Nations can grab influence in regions not native to thier own. The map seems to suggest it but so far no one seems to try. If it is possible, I think Windust and Sandoria just need to expand and take the parts of Quon that Bastok can't recover.

That is, if Bastok is worth saving. Tell ya what, give us your women and we'll save it.

On Lakshmi Sandy increased to 4 territories, Windy held at two keeping Meriphitaud but failing to recapture Sauromugue or Sarutabaruta, and Bastok is still pinned in their captial city.

On cerby, Sandy and Bastok still have nothing but the city and Windy only has Meri, but lost saruta.

So to those servers gaining territories without losing older ones, what's the secret? Cause niether Sandy or Bastok can make a dent in anything and Windy only seems to be able to take one place at a time.

                Garuda Update:

                San d'Oria: 6
                Bastok: 1
                Windurst: 2

I don't know what San d'Oria has been doing but they have been the top dog in Campaign ever since the update. When it comes to Conquest on Garuda it's usually between San d'Oria and Windurst, with Bastok coming in first once in a while. There was a little feud a few months ago when Windurst conquered East Ronfaure. San d'Oria came back the next update and took West Sarutabaruta along with more than half the world. They seem to have an even stronger grasp on Campaign.

With Bastok... well nothing's changed. They still haven't stepped foot out of their own city. There was a moment when the beastmen were actually winning, but Bastok managed to get their act together before the fighting was over and hold the city.

Windurst actually did something interesting. With Sarutabaruta being constantly bombarded with attacks, and losing, the players made a strike for Fort Karugo-Narugo. While they did lose Sarutabaruta in the end, they did manage to take Fort Karugo-Narugo.

Risking West Saruta for Karugo-Narugo is actually pretty clever considering once you have the fort, the campaign NPCs can pretty much hold it on thier own (the Patriarch Protectors are just obscenely overpowered like that, BST NPCs that can summon worms for Stonega III spam).

I think a big part of taking Sauromouge back for Windust was going in and doing Slaugherhouse Ops on top of offensive ops. This helps bring down fortifications in two ways and Slaughterhouse can be done at any given time.

Nations raising thier technology has also been helpful. Getting a Belfry up for your nation keeps a steady supply of troops coming in to mop up beastmen.

People have also gotten wise to the imps and started taking them out first since they end up pre-buffing a lot of the beastmen if left unchecked, I just find it annoying people feel the need to mob the imps when anyone could just solo one of them. Better to team up on the beastmen.

I think the big secret is to assit your city with what ever battle strageties they have going. and If you have enouf ppl doing some of the upper level campaign quests it helps the gain territory defend. such as when u you gain summoned creatures and several waves of renforcement. On Diablos we have a big decline in Besiged members and a hugh wave of constant campaign members. I can make decent money doing retraces from WG. And I dont blame ppl, the fun factor and involvment you get in campaign is great addition to this game.

                      Bastok: 1
                      Sandy: 2
Windy: 1 (drop to one from last week)

I was help this weekend for a few hours to keep sarutabaruta [S] and I can see why we lost it. Every other campaign battle in Sarutabaruta [S] we would be attacked with 3 waves within 2 minutes from the start of the campaign battle (Siege weapons and those teleporting gates included).

Clearly not that much, seeing as the beastmen have been gaining greater influence in Bastok Markets than Bastok... The main issue is that all the critical functions of your capital shut down during a campaign battle. While it might not make that much difference for those who just camp out Jugner Forest or Rolanberry Fields waiting for new campaign battles to occur, most of the campaign participants on Midgardsormr rely on high levels of reconnaissance and the teleportation NPCs to chase campaign battles across the map. When their capital comes under attack, there's not much for them to do but participate in the city's defense until the battle ends. And it seems like campaign battles occur as frequently as within 10-15 minutes of each other, and often last over an hour. So the window of opportunity to deploy to other zones tends to be pretty small.

On Pandy, Bastok and Sandy have 2 with Windy only having city, and having a hard time holding it.

On a side note, anyone notice that the Campaign Ops run out of stars real fast. I did some last night and the most there was 3 stars, except the ones that require at least 3 people. This morning, everything was one star.

Yeah, it's clearly balanced on an assumption of a smaller portion of the population participating than actually does.

I've seen an Op go from 4 stars to two in less then 30 minutes, doing it twice myself. If Op stars are based on how badly something is needed, then pretty much everything should be at top capacity until we actually start winning something.
