Hi,
i sold final fantasy x1 and the guy who bought it says that he wants his money back becuase the registration code does not work.
I told him i had used it but apparently the game is useless now?
He knows he has to pay as the free 30 day trial is not valid but does anyone know what he means that the registration code is no good anymore?He is demanding his money back and i will refund if there is no alternative.Basically does this mean that if you buy the game you can never sell it?

Registration codes can only be used once. For him to play, he'd need your account.

Yes, registration codes are used to create or expand the utility of a single account and work only once. And yes, once you buy the game you can't resell it, as that would require selling your account which is completely against the Terms of Service. Note that instead of a refund, you could exchange for a copy of FFXI with unused codes. -- Pteryx

I'm pretty sure it says right on the box that the game is not for resale once opened. I don't know the circumstances of the deal you made, but if he ever had to a chance to see the box, it's his fault for being ignorant.

Ameroth, this is a case of buyer beware whether he saw the box or not. Anyone who has even a faint clue what an MMO is should know they can't just buy the game.


I would disagree it's ENTIRELY the buyer's fault though-- the person selling it was clearly clueless as well.

I would have to agree with feba.

But, isn't is also possible to buy registration codes directly from SE, or was I imagining people talking about that again? I'm sure the buyer wouldn't need to pay much for it (less than a new copy of FFXI, at the very least) and since he's already installed it (since that's the only way you can know if the code is used or not, by trying to log on, as far as I know).... it would save a little bit of hassle, on his end.
