Re: I just got my face beat in by my NPC

Seriously, what's the quest to get our NPCs to fight as well with us as they do against us?

Re: I just got my face beat in by my NPC

I been running in and out (75BLM/RDM) of the BCNM testing (because im to lazy to run back to get melee equipement) and I notice something weird. If I cast either Blizzard 4 or Blizzard 3 they both do about 190...same with most of the 4th and 3rd tiers. I going to go in a few more times to see. Oh and at about 1/2 hp the NPC will charge you. Above 1/2 HP the NPC will stand there and have a magic duel against you.

      ...back to testing.

      My NPC is RDM/BLM

All my Tier 1 spells were scalable up to around 130
All my Tier 2 spells were capped around 190
All my Tier 3 spells were capped around 190
All my Tier 4 spells were capped around 190
      Bio was around 60-70
      All enfeebs landed

      My equipment:
      Ice Staff
      Platinum grip
      Elemental torque
      Moldavite earring
      Morion earring
      two Genius rings
      Custom M boots
      Errant slops
      Penitent's rope
      Gramary cape
      Black Cloak
      Igqira Manillas

      All tests done on Lightsday
      Waxing Gibbous

I think they capped BLM due to the fact that if were uncapped, we can drop the NPC in 2 tier 4 spells.

So I can chainspell Diaga and Tier II Blizzard.

I'll probably just melee it to be honest.

Reprisal seems like it's going to be a fun toy to use if I feel like I'm getting melee'd to hard.

I totally just restarted my NPC so I could get a different face. So I won't be doing this for a while...

Re: I just got my face beat in by my NPC

            Well, I am 0/4.

The following post has been edited for G rated audiences:

Between 30-49% my NPC will yell something to the effect of "I am about to break off my foot in the crack of your 'tush' Jackie Chan style!o!!11n!1!11!!e1!!"

Then he will either do a 460-670 damage multi-hit weaponskill(instant death) or 2hr and manaburn me to death.
(Ninja Edit: The WS damage happened while I has Phalanx up. The multi-hit dagger WS En...something ate through my Stoneskin + Phalanx.)
The last serious fight I was completely owned. He casted in the following order after my blink wore: Bind, Shell 4, Protect 4, Gravity, Nuke, Slow, Nuke, Nuke, Paralyze, (he 2hr about here) and Nuke, Nuke, Blazespikes (I honestly think he casted Blazespikes in the middle of his 2hr just to let me know I am running in slow motion and there is no escaping.) , and Nuke.
I promise I heard him say as he was walking away, "Who is my 'witch'!"

After that fight, I HP'd. I will actually use meds/food and some melee gear when I try again later today.

Re: I just got my face beat in by my NPC

I went back in as 72BLU/PLD and my NPC is PLD/BLM and uses a sword.

I have not made a serious attempt at it but I have been testing the waters. (Get my npc down to 1/2 HP then run away) During one of the test I was hit with Spirits Within and that was a 500 chunk of heath. I can easily get him down to 1/2 using the melee and spam only head butt (time to hit before his usually attacks) when it is up technique. (Happens to be my same technique to winning the solo ENM 60).

The NPC yelling thing happens right before he TPs and It seems he will use his TP as soon as it gets to 100. I get WS 4 times, everytime, when testing.

I seen him use CureIV and I cant seem to land silence or gravity. I think I am going to get some defensive food (Tav tacos) for the fight. I always land about 90% of my BLU spells and melee attacks so melee food is not needed.

From my testing I have the following plans:

                Plan1:
                Defense Food
                Buff long duration spells
                rest with +mp Gear
                Buff the short duration spells
                Equip all melee gea
                Yag drink
start with debuffing in the following order: Sprout Smack, Sand Spin, Sandspray, and Frightful Roar.
During the debuffing I recast Zephyr Mantle after Sand Spin. I usually have 1-2 blinks left by then.
Melee and use head butt for any spells/before he attacks
When he 2HRs run away and kite.

                Use Sentinal(sp?) when needed.
Use Shield Bash when Head Butt is not up and he is about to use CureIV.
If I have enough MP spam spells near the end to take him down.

                Plan 2:
                +Strength Food(outside)
                Buff long duration spells
                rest with +mp Gear
                Buff the short duration spells
                Equip all melee gear
                Yag Drink
                2HR spam Hystric Barrage(350) (sp?), Head Butt(50), Frentic Rip(250), Head Butt(50), Mancular Bite(200), Head Butt(50) ----> Repeat

Magic Fruit when needed and hope he doesnt use SPirits Within
                Kite/Sentinal when he 2HR
                Head Butt/Shield Bash any CureIV

EDIT: Does stun (headbutt or shield bash) go through the PLD 2HR?
                ______________________________
                I found the Answer...NO!

Last night I lost another Battle using the spam method. I was hit with Blessed Radiance for 962 when he was at 25% HP(Was ine the middle of casting Hysteric Barrage).

I went to Bastok and bought tav taco, 6 hi-potions, pear au lait, and yag drink. My plan is to wait for my 2HR to do it again.

As I ran all the way back to Fei'Yin, I decided for one more battle. I decided to try it using the Spam method again. I didnt plan to use any meds i bought because i wanted them for use with my 2HR. I went in with the spam plan(I had +acc +str gear, +str +mp BLU spells, buff BLU spells, the 4 spells to spam, and sprout smack for the begginning) I used a steamed crab only because I was testing how to make a macro to use a item in my inventory. *cough* 6 hi-potions *cough*

                The Fight:
use reraise earring and ran to the end of the hallway
Buff: Protect 2, Shell, Refueling, Metallic Body, Zephyr Mantle
                rest
                Buff: Warm up, cocoon
I had 1178 hp and 575 mp at start
Banish (4) to pull. (so I can reraise if I die)
                Lost 1 blink
                Hit him (38), Sprout Smack(32), HystericBarrage (244), Head Butt(55)
Spirits Within on me (241) (removes all 3 blinks)
Hit him (24), Frenetic Rip (328), Head Butt (53), Mandibular Bite (161), Hit him (15), Head Butt (76), Hysteric Barrage (238)
He crits me for 166, Circle Blade on me 116
                Frentic Rip (302)
                He 2-Hours
Head Butt (0), Hit Him (0), Mandibular Bite (0) (in the process of spamming, I didnt realize he 2-Houred)
                He cast Flash on me
I Run away and stop about 3/4 of the way to the burning circle
                He casts Shell 3
                I cast cocoon
He casts Blaze spikes and then runs to me
                I used Sentinal, Hit him(23), Hit him(36), Hysteric Barrage(401), Hit him (33), Head Butt (74), Hit him(37)
                Burning Blade on me (127)
                Frenetic Rip (358), Head Butt(69), Hit him(15), Hit him(22), Hysteric Barrage(211) WIN!!!

I thought the game froze for the first 3 seconds...probably loading the CS. The most notable thing about the whole fight is if he was casting a spell, anyone of the four spells spaming would interrupt his casting. Thats why there were huge gaps between him damaging me. For some reason, he was trying to buff most of the fight. I kept interrupting it and next time he was about to cast a spell it would be another buff. It may be something to take note(probably placebo) is to interrupt his buffing spells so the NPC would use less offensive spells. I also got 3 0.1 sword skill ups (made 245) on my NPC. If i knew this prior then I would just keep fighting him and skill up any weapons I needed. Just keep entering the BCNM and run away when he reaches half hp.
