Signet provides a boost to smaller parties like 3-4 people. It was adding in an update...also you no longer loose TP while resting with Sigent on...

The same goes for resting under Sigil, and Sigil can provide some highly useful effects ... but if anybody PTs in the past, I don't know about it.

Epic lulz. So, I contact SE to have my password reset because I couldn't remember what it was and it turns out a few things on my account have changed. Not really too big surprise, I knew an old friend had had my login info at one point so figure I'll just confirm my other bits of info and everything'll be top shape. Turns out after an hour or two on the phone with SE that my address and Billing Info had been changed along with my password. So, I verify the information I DO have on-hand and after some searching is done to verify I have all the info prior to 2 years ago when I quit they reset my password and I go login.

Odd, my character names are different. WTH, I'm not even on the same server! Login and check my toons and items and turns out there's been ALOT of activity, 1 more Job to 75, few others to early 60's, some HQ elemental Staves, etc. I'm thinkin', "Wow, what the hell is going on here?"

Low and Behold I start getting tells from someone telling me I need to give them their account back. Um, excuse me? Long story long, turns out my buddy sold off the account to someone for 300$. Foolish person they are I guess requiring the Registration Codes before purchase (Which are still safely in their original box from NA-god damn-release) or thinking to change the Subscription information didn't occur to them considering my name and B-Day were still listed on the Membership info. Needless to say I was a little miffed.

Anyway, the person asked for their stuff back. At first I considered it, then they mentioned they were told by the Seller that this wasn't their Account but they didn't expect the original owner to return. All sympathy kinda flew out the window at that point. I told them I'll be server transferring soon and they can inquire with the person they bought the account from for compensation.

Word to the wise, change your passwords often and don't trust anyone with your login info. Thank god they were too dumb to change the membership name or B-Day otherwise I'd have been short on information to confirm I was the owner.

I'd be even more pissed if I wasn't already intending to server transfer to play with a buddy from work. If I had to pay for it when I wasn't planning to, I probably would have made sure that whole server knew that person buys pre-leveled accounts.

On a positive note: I'm back! I missed Dreams, good to be home. =P

Wow, a story that, at first, sounded like it was gonna have a very baaaaaad ending but then turned out alright! Free equips and some extra jobs to boot! Congrats! Thats why I always tell people to hang on to their original codes because even your friends can get greedy!

Side note: I always hear about people selling their accounts for big bucks yet you can't use Ebay and selling to the gilzies doesn't net you crap. If its word of mouth that you are selling and some ls mate says "I have a friend who'll buy it..." yadda yadda....how can you trust that you will get the account or the seller get the money?? I don't know...$300 and crossing your fingers seems too risky to me! LOL

Since when can't you sell on eBay? People do it all the time, but indirectly:

Instead, they usually sell a story of their character, that contains the playonline ID and password to their character. Or they sell a piece of paper, which contains the information about the character.

As stupid as it sounds, there are loopholes and people still sell on eBay, and claim they're not selling their character, while in actuality they really are.

Yeah, supposedly they said they bought it from a friend of theirs so they didn't get it from Ebay or anything.

This is what people get for buying accounts and/or Gil online. I consider this my good karma for never doing either in the 6-7 years I've been playing MMO's. =D

Sorry to bump this, but this is the best story of MMO justice I've ever heard/read! Not to mention hilarious as heck.

Buying an account is etarded at it's best and I'll never buy that "I don't have time to level but still want play with my friends" crap. So glad to see you were able to claim your account back even though you may have 'lost' your old toon(s) and FFXI identity.

I made out like a bandit for sure. I'm definitely thr exception to the rule here. Quite a few people on the server my toon was on caught wind of the story and hit me up because they have had their accounts stolen as well. I'm one in a million apparently, most of them told me they were waiting 3-6 months for any reconciliation at all, and even then it's usually a roll back of their toon with zero gear and Gil.

Plus, my thieves were retarded. They changed the CC and Billing Address on the account info but left everything else the same. It's why we were able to verify enough pieces of info to make the process extremely quick and efficient.

I trio my DRK with a PLD/RDM and a BLU/NIN, we camp in the past when we find a good location for it. There's a very nice Berry Grub camp in Rolanberry Fields [S] that lasted us until Rumble Crawlers in Crawler's Nest, and right now we've just started camping crabs in Vunkerl Inlet [S]. Aside from one party wipe due to an AoE debuff hitting a passing campaign NM, and one case of accidental overhunting (lost tank on an IT, puller was more careful after that), things went quite well there, and the camp should last us a few levels, since Pugils there are just a bit higher level than the crabs, so we can move to them next. Sigil bonuses are quite nice to have, especially for a party where everyone uses MP (yes, I actually cast spells as a DRK, even have a fair bit of +INT gear to help stay effective there, though wearing Jaridah Peti, Cobra Hat, Chaos Gauntlets, Chaos Flanchard, and Bounding Boots makes for an odd look...).

As for the dunes, the issue there is that soloing has gotten easier, PLs have become more ubiquitous, and meleeburn mentality has so thoroughly infiltrated the community that few people know how to make a party work well at those levels. Thus most experienced players tend to simply solo/PL or static past the low levels now.
