What is a good sub for BLU?

Need a decent BLU subjob (not ninja) everyone goes with ninja, im looking to power up my magic attack more than melee, im a taru.

BLU/WHM if you're really looking to get in to BLU's more magical side: you have more healing spells than you think, if you're willing to try that seldom-blazed main healing/support aspect of the job. Of course, there's always BLU/SCH as well. If you're feeling adventurous enough, you could play around with BLU/SMN for the heck of it. BLU/RDM is a powerful defensive sub at later levels.

Other peoples could give you more detailed advice, but for now, I say that this most stay confined to the appropriate forum: the one dedicated to Blue Mages. Too lazy tired to link.

Well if you want to up your Magic attacks, then /blm would be the best route.

I personaly sub /drk till I hit 60 then I switch to /thf. A lot of people don't like /drk, but I do. More Str, more Int, and more mp than subbing jobs like /nin, /war/ and thf. The only major downside of /drk are the basic useless of the spells you get from the DRK. Only one that is worth it would be Bio.

But like YM said /whm and /rdm will help you out. Considering you are a Taru, some BLU spells do ues Mind as a modifier. Since you are kinda weak in that area, /whm will help make most of your spells almost even. Heck, maybe /pld will help out more. You'd get mind, some str not much, and mp. and some Sheild Mastery later on.

Also don't forget that some of your BLU spell use STR as a Modifier too. So um..everything is important for the "Magic" aspect of BLUs.

That is if I've read everything right. Meh..

It is important to note that the majority of your offensive spells are not enhanced by INT they way it is with elemental magic. Take a look at the Blue Mage page on ffxiclopedia. Below there is a list of all Blue Mage spells, the colorful bolded ones are the magical based spells. Now let's take a look at your offensive magical spells. Sandspin, Cursed Sphere, Blast Bomb, Poison Breath, Bomb Toss, Death Ray... There's more but that's all of them up until level 34. That's 6 spells, 4 of which are AoE and could be dangerous to use. Poison Breath is not AoE but it is a cone attack so you still have to be careful.

This is why so many Blue Mages put so much emphasis on STR/DEX gear to enhance their physical blue magic spells. Focusing on magical damage could work, but not really until higher levels. If you're just starting out then go /WAR for DD or tanking, /WHM or /DNC for support healing.

Like the others said, no matter how much you wish it were any different, magical blue spells suck in terms of damage/MP efficiency for general EXP'ing purposes. There are a couple of good ones at high levels, but that's about it. You'll still have to gear for melee, and most of your damage from MP will still come from physical spells.
