HA~HA! Proof of my theory that you were grown in a lab from parts collected from lesser nerds.

As for me, I think we've already established that [ame=http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1216738/muppet_rickroll/]THIS[/ame] is my plan in the event of a sequel.

Re: What will you do when/if FFXI2 comes out?

Simply put, when MMOs get sequels, those "sequels" are usually dumbed down immensely. WoW is pretty dumb for a 'Craft game and I'd technically consider it a sequel to it series, which required more of a brain to play.

EQ2's "good and evil" two main-city structure, along with decimating the faction syste are two reasons I will never play it. I liked mulitple cities to start from, it gave other EQ games thier flavor. I liked the faction system, it gave the game its flavor. I liked the good, evil and neutral elements of cites and the potential of getting aggro in a city or not because of your faction rating.

I mean really, Freeport was supposed to be neutral and now its "evil." Whatever.

I really consider Expansions to be sequels in the first place and think any refinements to an MMO should go through them. If you want to make a new MMO, just make a new MMO, don't make it a sequel.

Also, FFXII: Revenant Wings is a sequel, its a direct continuation of the story and considered the second chapter of the Invalice story which goes:

FFXII > FFXII: RW > Final Fantasy Tactics > Vagrant Story and then the FFTA games. Revenant Wings explains why there is a lot of things different about the Invalice of FFT and VS, I'd consider that continuity, not a "spin off."

I think I would just try the beta of the new game and if I liked it more I would move to the other game, if not I would stay with FFXI... I don't have the money for two MMO's, I'm just finishing high school.

Re: What will you do when/if FFXI2 comes out?

Personally I would like to see an FFXI-2 game released on all the platforms that XI has been released on.

It wouldn't be an MMO but more a FFXII affair, playing with AI teammates against CPU opponents. Single Player..

But using your downloaded FFXI player.
This could be released at the closing of FFXI.

I think this would be the only fitting way to end Vana'diel.

Another FF MMO would be welcome at that point - but if I can't continue adventuring in Vana'diel - then forget it. I love that place.

Re: What will you do when/if FFXI2 comes out?

I'd consider it just another MMO. Whether it would be called World of Warcraft-2 or Final Fantasy XI-2, I don't care. It mainly depends on how the game looks (graphic) and if the basic story, characters, jobs and such appeal to me.
We all are playing fantasy games and whether we play our roles or not, we do want play in an environment we like and be able to evolve our characters to look how we want, don't we.

Well once it seems interesting, then it depends on what my best (online) friend (and some others) does. We played several games together to the highest levels, including Final Fantasy XI, and it depends if we want to try that or not. I wanted to try Lord of the Rings online but he didn't, so that didn't go through. (If I really wanted to I could convince him anyway, but who cares about movie-games. )

So you'll play nothing at all? If you "love" Vana'Diel, I'm sure once Vana'Diel goes apocalypse, you'll be dying to get on another similiar MMO soon enough, don't you think?

As much as it may seem like it, fact stands that Warcraft was a RTS game and WoW is a MMORPG.

Not only on this subject, but just in general, I believe that a lot of times comparing games to eachother is just a bad idea. To learn a new game, we need to accept it as a new game at first without too much hope of it being like another game.

Hmm.. I consider them more like additional content, a sequal is way different. I don't consider it a sequel unless I have to install from a new game, read a new manual and play from scratch. x.x

Re: What will you do when/if FFXI2 comes out?

One thing I'd love to see in a Final Fantasy XI-2 would be a revamping of the subjob system such that skills from your subjob actually matter. Give WAR/BLM a C in Elemental Magic and an F in Enfeebling Magic to work with, and vice-versa for WAR/RDM. Make a WAR/DRG's Polearm skill cap jump to the average of an A+ and a B-. That sort of thing. Make it so that the "endless possibilities" SE loves to trumpet are closer to 50% useful, not 10%.

I'd also like it if nuke damage were rebalanced such that MAB I wasn't necessary to deal any damage with them, and MAB I itself were toned down to compensate.

Ninja should be turned into a DDer/enfeebler hybrid. OTOH, a new blink tank job should be created with the lessons learned from Utsusemi kept firmly in mind.

Level restriction should not be limited to a pair of special items almost nobody gets; it should be integrated into the game from the start. There should also be "capped" stats for gear for both this function and mandatory level-cap situations.

A mechanic that encourages melees to rest occasionally should be implemented. It shouldn't be as crippling or as frequent as mages running out of MP -- perhaps just a gradual increase of delay to double normal starting after a certain point -- but it should preclude the possibility of downtime never happening at all.

And for crying out loud, SE should give us a real tank job from day one! Make WAR more tankish and less DDish, make PLD a basic job, I don't care. Just let us start with a good tank. -- Pteryx

I like Pteryx's vision of FFXI-2 being a systematic overhaul of FFXI. Pteryx.

On the original subject, the main thing I'd be worried about would be keeping my character somehow. It also depends on what's changed, but I'd probably still play FFXI.

It also comes to mind that I'd be making even more videos if a new one came out. Oh, the horror!

If they made quests yield experience in the sequel I'd take my kids out of school and raise them to be Gil Sellers so I could play 24/7. The only place I feel SE failed with this game was the time sink required to level. Unfortunately, that being a core mechanic of an MMORPG, it affected the gameplay pretty heavily. Without that one flaw, this would probably be my perfect game for the genre.
