Has any server taken a Beastman Stronghold yet?

Ragnarok hasn't due to lack of people wantin to do so, but I was wondering if any server has? I'd be curious to know how things work.

Nothing here, whenever I do campaign no battle exists in the strongholds.

I'm just shooting from the hip here, but don't the beastmen strongholds follow the same rules as our cities do? That is to say, we have to control the zone next to it to be able to launch attacks on it?

Although I do remember seeing forces being sent to said locations over the "intercom" when I was in Bastok Markets [s] the other day. Perhaps they're just a rare occasion? Kujata hasn't taken a stronghold yet, and probably won't ever, at this rate.

Thinking about it, that may be true. On the week they were added, everyone had control of every area, hence it was possible for Campaign to happen in the strongholders. Of course, since that time people are then starting to lose again due to the difficulty/weakened NPCs and after that week nothing happened again. And since we don't ever see cities being attacked anymore, this control all regions theory works very nice.

Oh well. It's more fun when the fights are in the cities/strongholds. More exciting. I hope they tune up campaign even more soon.

Well I did Castle Oztroja on my SMN w/ a PUP and we got some damn good exp and did a good job of getting rid of yagudo but there was no way for us to win without more people around. It was just us and a couple waves of NPCs.

Most of the difficulty behind the beastmen strongholds, is that there are normal(I.E., ~Lv82) beastmen next to the campaign mobs that link... and while they have less HP, they have stronger attack also, and NPCs won't attack them. So while I am sure it is possible, you would need an organized effort to continuously attack the stronghold whenever there was a battle.

On top of this, you can't warp to a point near their fortifications; you have to trek past bunches of merit-level beastmen just to begin with. I have to wonder if SE thought of this and increases the XP/AN gain rate for Beastman stronghold attacks... I wouldn't count on them to have -- they have a pretty poor sense of risk/reward and effort/reward -- but. -- Pteryx

Re: Taking Beastman Strongholds in Campaign

I think a more accurate statement is that they underestimate the sheer laziness of players. I have to laugh at people that consider CN/EN/GC/Beadeux/Castle O/La Vaule (S) to be "treks" when they're hardly even a jog.

Do people really expect to be able to warp right into Beastmen Strongholds?

"Hey beastmen, you guys mind if we set up a Campaign warp point near your fortifications? I know you guys have to walk to all of ours, but, damn, its just too far to walk for us, you guys get perma-Flee! So, whaddya say? Let us set up a spot here?"

I wouldn't mind a boost to rewards for doing it, but please, let's not reduce these places to the braindead defenses of a Bond-villain/ToA fortress by being able to warp into them. I'd like these places to stay dangerous, thank you very much.

Quetz, Bastok has controlled all its areas. There is now Campaign in Beaduex S.

Hurray! I'm gonna make some time just to go have some fun there.

It's like how no one wants to take out any Archaic Mirrors for Besieged. They can't be bothered to do anything that would take all that work.

People did do that up until SE made it a complete pain in the ass to get to them.

You mean before they put mobs there?

I'd agree if there were Archaic Mirrors and these were not viable merit camps.

But there are no Archic Mirrors and these are extremely viable merit camps, so I can't agree. Not only that, there are a couple decent NMs to hunt down in each and pop items for NMs are dropped in all three strongholds, thankfully, SE thought of mages when they made these pop NMs. Sothic Rope and Vicious Mufflers are some nice drops.

Yeah, cause they totally didn't put the past Tele Crystals a stones throw away from their front gates.

The problem is, why run through a zone full of aggroing high lvl mobs to get to a fight that's surrounded by more aggroing non-campaign mobs when you can just bounce to-and-fro between dozens of other closer, easier to access and fight in areas. I haven't even had a chance to get into one of the new Beastmen zones because every time I get to a neighboring zone to the Cities, a fight breaks out *in* the zone I'm in. It's faster and easier, and usually more rewarding to stay there then get all the way to a Beastmen zone for a fight that may end as soon as I get my tags.
