I would say worse; it's easier to solo or form small groups for exp'ing now. Generally speaking, of course, that means easier to get experience points if you're not stuck on the notion of getting into a pickup group.

Can't really think of any changes except slightly more equipment choices, for those willing to invest the time to obtain them. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same job, with a bit more main healing. Invite rate is decent.

Sorry that this (my post) doesn't help in anyway, but...

Wouldn't it be nice if SE put up an easy search for changes in FFXI history?

      Example:

      Years
Categories (such as jobs, quests, missions)
      Subcategories for the categories

      Example2:

      2006, 2007, 2008

      Jobs

Warrior, Thief, Monk, Red Mage, White Mage, Black Mage

      Stats, Weapons, Equipment, etc

Info for what was changed about (insert name) in (insert year)

      Meh. Maybe I'm crazy o.O

Re: how dith the game change after 2005

          Let's see... changes since 2005.

Jobs added : Blue Mage, Corsair, Puppetmaster, Dancer, Scholar.

New Battle Systems: Besieged and Campaign, war-like battle systems where major cities can be raided players can defend cities and also campaign outposts. WotG's Campaign differs greatly as battles take place in Crystal War era zones at any given time while Besieged centers is focus on protecting Al'Zahbi from beastmen raids that can happen about three times a day.

Endgame content added: Assault, Nyzul Isle, Einherjar and Salvage.

Changes for RDM: Not many. New gear from Assault, Nyzul Isle and Salvage. RDM became seen as healer class in ToA expansion, favored by many for its Haste buffs, curative abilities and high MP endurance. "Burn" PTs have become commonplace for all manner of jobs, rather than held exclusively to RNG or BLM in the past and the emphasis of killing weaker mobs has lead to a lack of needing RDM's enfeebles.

RDM still plays like it should, but this shift in party mechanics doesn't allow RDMs to highlight thier specialties and instead reduces them to a healer.

Hopefully, with the addition of DNC and SCH, in addition to the updates to SCH, this will change for RDM as these jobs are quite capable and efficient healers as well.

Maybe I should of made it clearer by saying "easier."

Maybe they should just put that on the login screen so that it's as easy as it can possibly be.

              People would still ask though.

                  Minor fixes.

If you want to complain about RDM not being true to the role you feel it should be, fine. But I'm tired of seeing you harp about it in every thread.

I can't help but feel you worded that weirdly. I must come back after sleep to think it over.

But, yes, I'll leave the Harping to the Bards. Demand your single-target Ability, already. Paladins and Rangers will love you.

Er, this is overstating the change, even for ToAU camps.

Non-RDM players tend to forget Dia II is an enfeeb and part of the workload. Silence is very helpful on some Mamool Ja and Trolls, and mandatory on all Imps. Paralyze helps when Silence is resisted or wears off early, and Slow is good on longer fights like Trolls (or most everything, before merit levels). Dispel is heavily used on Troll mages, Mamool Ja, and Imps. Not to mention Sleep II, when BRD brings back multiple monsters, applies that short duration Hord Lullaby--then runs off for more.

In exp and merit parties, RDMs have taken on main healing and kept up much the enfeebs, thank you very much. The key difference is that in WS spam parties, you're not looking to reapply enfeebs--the target be dead before anything wears off, or very shortly after.

Besides, merit party isn't all there is to a RDM75. I've heard of people using RDM as nothing more than healers in everything, but that definitely isn't what I'm seeing for myself and others around me in Dynamis, Sky, Sea, or Limbus. Refresh, enfeeb, and crowd control define my RDM's week much more than curing or status removal, that's for sure.
