Mistletoe farming makes me and farmers tons of money, farm mistletoes if you want gil^^ I pretty much pay out millions to farmers on these.

Schadenfreude has actually become somewhat of a loanword in English, but from the original German, it roughly means "displeasure-joy," or, more roughly, sadism. To be clear, a "Schadenfreude" would be a sadist, as the case my be.

I'd like to think the lack of thanks one gets pretty much covers it. A No Thanks button would only foster the idiocy we already see on Alla with Rate Up and Rate Down.

Granted, morons can still be thanked, but with they system we have at least we don't run the risk of intelligent information being marred by children with vendettas and them making sockpuppets to "No thanks" you with.

At least with the system we have now, we can see a guide's usefulness by the amount of "Thanks" it has.

We actually did have a Reputation +/- system here for a short while, as long-time members may remember.

We got rid of it because people were abusing the whole rate up/down business. It's just not sane. The Thanks system we have in place now works much, much better.

It doesn't mean sadism, roughly or otherwise. It's a term specifically referring to pleasure in the misfortune of others. Not pleasure in someone else's pain, or pleasure in inflicting said pain. Schadenfreude is laughing when someone falls down, or is embarassed. Not when they lose their mother to cancer, or get shot in the face. Unless it's funny.
