Equipment Lists

Given the sorry state of updates to Somepage and the lack of full database searching capabilities on other common FFXI websites, I'm currently putting together a database capable of handling the info associated with FFXI Equipment using MySQL for the backend and PHP/JavaScript for the initial front-end (may make a variety of others as well). At the moment I have no plans of hosting it as a site, as dealing with keeping such a site running and secure is more than I have time for, but I would certainly be willing to make database schema/contents for the backend and code for the frontend available to others interested in using it (I generally release software under GPL).

My question is whether anyone knows where or how lists of equipment comparable to those that tend to appear on forums immediately after an update might be found, as I'm looking to try to automate the initial data import as much as possible.

Usually, .dat mining updates. I'm pretty sure Allakhazam has an automated or semiautomated method of maintaining their FFXI db, or at least they used to, given the test items that could be found (level 90+ items and such). It might be worth hopping over to their IRC channel and asking danalog about it.
