Ok so I had hopes levling my BLM a bit tonight @ lvl 43. I was in Eastern Altepa Desert BLM/NIN fighting Goblin Spiders for pretty weak XP (45-69) LFP. I had 56INT +24 from gear so we will call It 80. I was doing about 244 Damage with my Blizzard 2, and I got to thinking how this would stack up against a naked 75RDM, and a naked 75 BLM.
I eagerly got my brother (75BLM/RDM with 79 INT) and got my 75RDM/BLM with 77 INT.
We proceded to drop teir 2's on the goblin pets. I was utterly disgusted, When I landed a Blizzard 2 for 238. I was mortified. My lvl 44 BLM with 80 INT can out damage my RDM. I proceded to equip all the same gear I could that the BLM was using and came up with +19 INT. I casted Blizzard 2 again 268. Now I found this very odd not because I was 16 Int over my BLM and doing only 14 damage more. I was shocked to Find out that INT calculations seem to be off. +3 INT from a 43BLM over my naked RDM yeiled a 7 point difference. I was even more shocked when +16 Int as a RDM over my BLM yeilded a 14 damage spread. The Numbers just didnt add up.
So I got my brother to cast the same teir 2 spell he casted a blizzard which is merited (1 to potency) and hit for 259.
We decided to try and see how our non merited teir 3's stacked up. Using fire he hit for 470, I hit for 438. We moved down to aero, He Hit for 440 and I hit for 410.
Now Im not sure hoe the math goes but I did this to take out MAB I-IV
Fire
470/1.32 = 356 (floor from decimals)
438/1.24 = 353 (floor from decimals)
Aero
440/1.32 = 333 (floor from decimals)
410/1.24 = 330 (floor from decimals)
In both cases He acheived 3 more damage then I did with out MAB's. He only Had 2 more INT then I did which would mean INT was equalling 1.5 dmg/INT(1)
But when I take that back to my casting from my BLM vs Naked RDM
244/1.24 = 196
238/1.24 = 191
And now I have a 5 point differntial meaning each INT = 1.666*
So I then took my RDM with 96 INT vs BLM with 80
268/1.24 = 216
244/1.24 = 196
A 20 point difference meaning each INT was now worth 1.25 DMG
Now I dont understand this, is INT a varying diferential? How can It change from 1.25, to 1.5 to 1.6 . I can understand that stats May have a cap to them at certain levels, Possibly 80 INT on a 43 BLM is skewing the resaults of this. I ca understand the closeness of the BLM and RDM both naked.
However we tested the clothed BLM vs my Clothed RDM, he added +17 INT, and I added my +19. bringing us both to 96
Fire
495/1.32 = 375
466/1.24 = 375
an Identical match @ 75 with 96 INT and the same spell. Like I figured it would be.
So I decided to check against our teir 2's as well (.02 etxtra represents the +2 from 1 potency)
259/1.34 = 194
238/1.24 = 191
Again his INT diferentail is 1.5
Now I compared BLM75(79 INT) to BLM43(80 INT)
259/1.34 = 194
244/1.24 = 196
and INT is now 2DMG/1
so here is what we have
RDM75(77) vs BLM75 (79)
Teir 2 1.5DMG/INT
Teir 3 1.5DMG/INT
Both 96 INT
Teir 3 Dead Even
RDM75(77) vs BLM43(80 INT)
Teir 2 1.666*/INT
RDM75(96 INT) vs BLM43(80 INT)
Teir 2 1.25 INT
BLM75(79 INT) ve BLM43(80 INT)
Teir 2 2.0INT
*ALL JOBS ELEMENTAL SKILL CAPPED*
the total span from our INT testing is 1.25-2.0 DMG/INT. It apears to me that INT at a lower level stacks up more damage than it does at higher levels. As In each Case the lvl 43 had a greater INT-DMG ratio than we did @ 75 on either BLM or RDM. Is this factual or am I just a Lucky BLM?
