In my never-ending quest for Gnat Pellets, today I decided to make a traditional, SC + MB EXP party, to go to Castle Oztraja [S]. At first I had some trouble getting people to go along with the idea, and I got several replies along the lines of <Caedarva Mire> <Please> or <Bard>x2 <Can I have it?> but in the end I got five people adventurous(or perhaps suicidal) enough to accompany me to the Yagudo Fortress. The setup was NIN, WAR, MNK, DRG, BLM, WHM. First of all, this is a good camp. Their are two tiers of Yagudo we encountered. The first check T-VT to a 75, and look like basic, black Yagudo. The second check VT-IT to a 75, and have gray feathers, like Gessho. This second tier will be your main targets, but you can easily pull the first tier to keep the chain going if you run out of targets.
The second tier Yagudo were giving us about 160-180 base EXP each, without chains or rings. We got consistent Chain 6, though we could never seem to break 7. Some things that should be noted:
1) The BLM Yagudo, the Hierogammats, are highly resistant to Sleep. Repose seemed to have a better chance at landing. I could not stick Sleep without Elemental Seal. The WHM and BRD Yagudo, Abbots and Conductors, were more easily sleept, but the SMN Yagudo, the Superiors, were resistant to both Sleep and Repose.
2) The Yagudo move a lot. I mean, they walk around in circles, barely stopping. You need to have a good puller for this camp, and get them out of linking range quickly.
3) Oddly enough, these Yagudo linked and aggroed less readily then regular monsters. The aggro radius was about half, from what I noticed. Kind of makes up for the constant movement. I wouldn't depend on this though, just an observation.
4) You will find some interesting drops off of these. The BRDs drop several high-level music sheets. Gnat Pellets drop from the SMN Yagudos, but nothing else we fought.
After a few hours, two nasty links, a wipe, and (Thankfully) a new puller, I walked away with ~16k EXP and two Gnat Pellets. The only problem we encountered was quite a few issues with 3-4 Yagudo being pulled at a time at a time, however, after we got a new puller things went fine without a hitch. We camped just outside on the second floor of the area where Mee Deggi usually spawns. You have to go through the trap door/lever system to get up to the top. One thing that may be of note is that I found some Imps in the basement. These appeared to be the same level as Caedarva Mire Imps, but had a different name. I'm not sure about difficulty or camp availability, as we didn't fight these.
