Didn't see a thread on Proto-Omega, so creating one. (Correct me if I'm wrong!) I need some help with getting more precise information about its special attacks. This is what I know so far...

Proto-Omega's special attacks, orginally from FFXIclopedia (updated with inputs from Dreams' members):
    Biped (standing) Form:
Notes: High counter rate. Kiting recommended. Each Gunpod has approximately 2000 HP.
    • Rear Lasers: (U:ignore) Single target damage; Effect: Petrification; only used when attacker from behind tops enmity list.
    • Pod Ejection: Effect: spawns a Gunpod; not a TP/WS move; triggers on 5 minute timer and set HP percentages.
    • Laser Shower: (U:ignore) Cone AoE ~150-900 damage; Effect: Defense Down; tanking from off-center reduces damage.
    • Colossal Blow: (U:ignore) Set % damage (reduce HP to single digit %); Effect: knockback, enmity reset; slow to activate, so can stun or run away.
    • Guided Missile II: (U:strip) Targeted AoE ~400 damage; Effect: Bind.
    Quadruped (crawling) Form:
    • Hyper Pulse: (U:ignore) AoE ~300 damage; Effects: Gravity, short-duration Bind
    • Ion Efflux: (U:ignore) Cone AoE; Effect: Paralysis
    • Stun Cannon: (U:ignore) Cone AoE ~300 damage; Effect: Paralysis
    • Target Analysis: (U:absorb) AoE, no damage; Effect: Absorb-ALL (buffs)
    • Floodlight: (U:ignore) AoE ~300 damage; Effect: Blind, Silence, Flash.
    • Guided Missile: (U:absorb) Targeted AoE ~500 damage; Effect: Bind.
    • Pile Pitch: (U:ignore)Set % damage (reduce HP to single digit %); Effect: Bind, enmity reset; physical resist doesn't help.
    U:absorb = Attack is absorbed by Utusemi's copy image(s).
U:ignore = Attack goes through Utusemi, but does not remove copy images.
U:strip = Attack goes removes Utsusemi and affect the target.
    Stun Recommendation:
    • Colossal Blow
    • Others?

Stuff in red are the info which looks iffy, but errors can be anywhere.

Since I'm about to fight this critter in the near future, would really appreciate any correction or addition. Last, but not least, would like to know how the two forms (four-legged and two-legged) relate to its attacks or overall behavior, too.

This post will be updated as corrections and additions come in.

Itaz do you want a full start to finish strategy or just the difference in stances?

Pile Pitch is % similar to throat stabs from tonberry.

Believe it also resets hate, checking for this info give me a sec I have notes on everything on my own db.

Rear Laser looks right tho. most of that info is right I can make notes of this since I have omega Monday + Thursday.

Basic theory is Nuke on 4 legs and melee on 2 if you are wondering about forms, the reason is the fact of each forms weapon skills.

          Re: Proto-Omega

As far as strategy goes we fight it when it's on the ground (Heavy on the Melee side) and then kite it when it stands up. Major stunning while kiting. We usually have 3 PLDs in the tank group with one of them PLD/NIN, a BRD singing March/Ballad, the requisite WHM and a RDM. The other two groups are DD one with like 3 BLMs. The BLM-heavy group is in charge of farming the Gunpods and stunning; the melee-heavy group fights omega when it's on 4 legs.

There's generally one RDM in each PT and a WHM as well. I don't think we have any BLU's in the LS and we never use NIN tanks. We've never lost to Proto-Omega.

          Summary:

Tank Group: 3x PLD, RDM, WHM, BRD
Melee Group: 4x Melee DD, RDM, WHM
Magic Group: 3x BLM, Melee DD, RDM, WHM

Basically... That's a "foggy impression" of our setup. We might be doing Omega on Sunday. If we do, I'll put my parser on and capture the log for you.

            Re: Proto-Omega

Depending on how many whm's you have, you might need a couple blms come /whm also. If I remember correctly, the paralysis move is quite a nasty one.

For pods, we have a tank/voker always available to pull and blms then nuke. They go down quickly if people are on their toes.

I believe our strat is basically to have a tank pull it to the far back and keep it facing AWAY from the mages. DD's go in and do their thing announcing sc's for mb's when its on 4 legs. Mages stay back as far as casting range allows to avoid AOE's. Mages resting or non casting mages should not be in range at all with some /whm for paralyna support of mages that were in range. Have one tank/voker that is always on duty for pods and blms should watch for them also and nuke accordingly. DOT as much as possible also.

Not sure if that helps at all, but good luck and let us know how it went!

Do NOT melee the 2-legged form from the front or you will be countered into the floor very fast. Both Pile Pitch and Colossal Blow can't kill you (at least, I have never seem them kill someone), they just do 80%/90%(?) of your current HP+the other stuffs you mentioned

This is correct. Pile Pitch is exactly like Throat Stab. Full hate reset and does enough damage to drop the target down to single percentage point of max HP (I don't think physical resist works against it either).

Rear Laser looks right tho. most of that info is right I can make notes of this since I have omega Monday + Thursday.

It's been a while since I personally did Proto-Omega - my LS did him this week but I wasn't online at the time.

Offhand the two forms (biped/quadriped) have completely separate attacks.

                I think this is correct:

                Biped/2 legs:
                Rear Lasers
                Pod Ejection
                Laser Shower
                Rear Lasers
                Colossal Blow

                Quadriped/4 les:
                Ion Efflux
                Stun Cannon
                Target Analysis
                Hyper Pulse
                Stun Cannon
                Target Analysis
                Floodlight
                Guided Missile
                Pile Pitch

Incidentally, I seem to remember Laser Shower having add effect: Defense Down, among the other cute and fuzzy things it does damage-wise. I don't recall offhand which form uses Guided Missile II.

Also Pld/nin x2 or Nin/drk x2 or a mix is all the tanks you need.

I think I'd want the third tank. One of the tanks keeps the Gunpods off the BLMs and the other two work Omega. (They trade up). Tank death can be fairly common so we occasionally have a weakened tank who's out of it and having the extra one around is so terribly useful. If you're tanks are Immortal Gods (like the ones in Sevv's LS probably are) though, two would probably be fine. I suppose you could use a WAR/NIN in the BLM group to keep the Gunpods occupied.

I really like the third tank. Speed is not necessary when doing Omega. In fact, just the opposite is preferable since you want to keep Omega alive and tossing Gunpods for as long as possible to maximize your ABC and Material returns from the run since they're pretty slight already.

Having tanks with Provoke is also excellent for bouncing especially during 2-leg form. One of your voking tanks can pull Omega off of the current kiter with a voke after a nasty damage move to shield the kiter from harm until they can be healed. This helps minimize tank deaths.

The goals of a Proto-Omega fight, IMO, are:

                      1. Maximize Gunpod kills by making fight duration as close to time limit as possible.
                      2. Maximize survivability within constraint above.

Speed is not a goal except wherein #1 is concerned.

We use 2 Pld/nin, usually myself and our taru Pld.

We pull omega on pld in front and one behind, take him down to 5%. Then from there we kite and farm him, usually a war/nin voking gunpods.

                          D/C'ed mid fight--pretty early on, actually. -_-#

By the time I was able to return online, it was nearly dead. It did use Guided Missile II in Biped form, when it was above 90%. So, not "final form", whatever that is. XD

See the part about "above 90%", Sev; that's when it first used it on us. It keeps switching mode between biped and quadruped, at least before I d/c'ed.
