      I've heard a huge number of rumors regarding Goblin's bomb toss. It seems to be "accepted" that provoking causes/increases the chance of the goblin dropping the bomb.. but what else have I heard?

      Healers setting up macros to Cure the goblin.
      MNK's being asked to use Dodge.
      Tanks being asked to "Run away"


      Quite frankly, I have no idea what any of these (including provoke) have to do with the bomb toss, but hey, if it works, it works.

      Mobs:

      Crabs are immune to daggers.
      Crabs are strong against swords.
      Crabs are weak to 2-handed weapons, except for H2H.

      Sand Bats have a hidden "drain" effect with their attacks.

      Items/Effects:

      Higher defense = More hate gained from attacks
      Evasion causes hate loss
      Metal armors decrease evasion vs. Cloth armors
      Taking more damage = gaining more hate
      Taking less damage = gaining more hate
      Food effects causes lower gil drop rates


      NM's:

      XX Lottery NM will only spawn if your level is below XX.
      XX Lottery NM can only spawn if you have a certain job/sub.
      XX Lottery NM will only drop XX if you /dance before attacking.

        Dak: Thanks for reminding me, forgot to address the 1-hander vs 2-hander thing in the other thread when you brought it up.

        The damage anyone does with a normal strike is (DMG + fSTR) * PDIF. If you have the same amount of Attack with either weapon, you'll have the same PDIF ranges with both weapons. Any differences in damage would then be all up weapon choice and fSTR. The only way for fSTR to gimp a one-handed weapon user significantly is if you fight high level high-VIT (PLD, i.e. crabs and beetles) mobs and also have very little +STR on you. As a general rule any good DD has a fair amount of STR in his gear setup, and most mobs have horrible VIT due to being WAR, RDM, BLM, RNG, THF, etc. As a matter of fact, one-handed weapons tend to benefit more from fSTR than two-handers.

        That aside I'm pretty sure crabs don't have resistances. Just barrels and barrels of VIT and Defense.

        Oh, yeah, forgot this one:
        Wind Staff helping Sneak/Invis duration, lol.

        I've seen LL pop in 15 minutes after she was last killed, with a lot of competition killing every lizard in sight. I think it's just random.

        Also, Tomatokai, H2H isn't a 2-handed weapon. It's more like dual wield if anything. And I'm fairly sure that there's no proof to support the claim that Provoking a gob will increase the likelyhood of dropping the bomb.

          That's not to actually stop the bomb toss. If the person with hate gets far enough away, it keeps everyone else out of AOE range, so that they're the only one that takes damage from it.

          Although given all the other ridiculosity surrounding bomb toss, I wouldn't be surprised if some people got that confused with stopping it.

            In addition to keeping everyone else out of AoE range, if the gob self-destructs instead, it lets you escape the blast (which at higher levels WILL do more damage than a normal bomb toss if the Gob had most of his HP left.)

            It's a very handy tactic.

                This isn't neccesarily too far off, as higher MND will decrease the potency of Slow/Para/Blind (the actual spells, not any NIN or other variations of them).

                Now for mine:

                TH actually increases drop rates. Good one, S-E. I believed it for a little while, now I know better.

                Add, since this just came up again in another thread lol: Gjallarhorn doesn't increase Ballad potency, only duration.

                  CHR affects vendor prices.

                  Elemental debuffs reduce elemental resistance (ie, Shock will lower Water resist.)

                  Drop rate is reduced for enemies defeated by area-effect abilities.

                  Absolute Virtue can be defeated.
