A petition for installment of a Tarutaru Serpent General in defense of Al Zahbi
Re: A petition for installment of a Tarutaru Serpent General in defense of Al Zahbi
I know Kujata needs to learn how to defend the ones they already have before they get a new one. I'm tired of seeing poorly auto-translated shouts asking for their locations during Beseiged.

If you know of the back story then you should know why there isn't a 6th serpent general as a tarutaru. There WAS one guy that could have been, but he kinda screwed up, and their really pissed at him...

Fixed for you. ('They're ~ their ~ there' is one of my biggest pet peeves.)

As for the Tarutaru that failed to be the 6th Serpent General, you can meet him in Al Zhabi, the next time you decide to be a cheapskate and get the free Warp...

...and of course he's now more famous then all the Serpent Generals put together.... he should be called the Warpserpent General
btw, which Mission/quest involves the backstory on our friend here?
It is with deep sadness that I call upon my fellow Tarutaru brethren to boycott any further defense of the capital of Al Zahbi until this matter is resolved. I will not stand in the way of others who give aid in the defense of Al Zahbi, but I ask for the support of my fellow mercenaries of Aht Urghan in the form of signatures in this request. It would be a shame if the magnificent city of Al Zahbi and the benevolent Empire of Aht Urghan were to suffer due to this grevious miscalculation.
I humbly await Your Majesty’s response.
Sincerely,
Heezeemeezee, Tarutaru Black Mage (Midgardsormr)

Aht Urghan Mercenary, Private Second Class
As a soldier for the Republic of Bastok and a Mercenary Second Lieutenant I can honestly say that this 'petition' is borderline insulting to her Majesty's good graces. You of such low rank, within both the Mercenary company who employs you as well as your own home nations military, decry an attempt to withhold aid to the Empire simply because it does not fit in with your 'politically correct' views? The Empress and her court are well aware of the power magic holds and no less then three of the five Serpent Generals wield these arts. In fact the Waterserpent General herself cast aside her ways of the shadow arts of assassination to take up the role of warrior cleric in an attempt to aid her troops through a combined effort of physical might and magical healing.
The reason why there are no Taru Taru Serpent Generals is an easy one. None have been able to step up and prove their worth as a soldier, a leader and a loyal follower of her majesty's empire. One Taru Taru did show promise, but when the time came, and he was called upon to prove himself in combat, he faltered and nearly cost the other Generals their lives. In this incident, the Empress’s decision to maintain the five current Generals as is was reinforced as there was no need to add another. Not because of some racial bias, but because there were no other candidates worthy of the title and rank.
In your baseless attempts to accuse the Empress of showing some sort of empty biasness towards one of Altana’s great races, you are in effect asking others to willingly endanger the Empire itself. And any calls to harm the Empire are seen as a direct call to harm the Empress herself. As such, you should feel lucky that you do not find yourself in the custody of the Immortals for raising such a backhanded threat against her Majesty. As a soldier, only those who show the full capabilities to lead troops into battle undaunted by any foe, who show full capabilities of planning strategy that will best their enemies while protecting their allies and who show full, unyielding, unquestionable loyalty to the Empire and thus the Empress herself will ever be up for consideration of the Rank of Serpent General. The Empress is not one to fall victim to such an ignorant bias as to ignore an entire race of soldiers simply because of their race and as such is well aware that no members of said race possess the merits needed to fulfill the position of Serpent General. That title is earned through hard work, dedication to ones troops as well as the Empire itself and through untold bravery and courage in the face of insurmountable odds. It is not just bestowed upon one at the behest of some low ranked recruit and their thinly veiled threats. I suggest you return to clearing rocks for the Imperial Army like all Mercenaries before had to do so you learn the basics of what it is to be a soldier before making anymore ‘suggestions’ to her Majesty. [/rp reply]
I'm sorry, thats the worst ever thought out backstory I've ever heard. I'm actually pissed now.
Why even bother having a specific race if they don't get a fair shake?
The Empire =/= the Crystal Warriors. Taru Taru just don’t seem as prominent over in AU as they are in the mainlands. Infact neither do Galka. The only reason there’s a Galkan Serpent General is because he was a Bastokan Praefectus who left Bastok in an attempt to find a new life over seas and eventually worked his way up through the ranks due to the fact that he was just that damn good. The Taru’s had their chance, and they sent the other Generals into the midst of the Mamool’s war council.

I have read your letter with the care it has been written, and although we do agree on the powers of magic, on other matters our opinions seem to diverge.
Since posting of my last letter I have delved into studying history of the Empire’s most loyal Serpent Generals, and after conferring with my colleagues and even the General’s aides over many cups of tea, I have come to the conclusion that there is a recurring theme behind the history of the Serpent Generals. That theme being Second Chances.
You mention in your letter the presence of a Tarutaru candidate for Serpent General. I am aware of who you speak of, and in fact use his services with regularity. I am also aware of his error that lead to the other Generals being put in harm’s way. I am lead to believe that he was chosen as a candidate not for his skills in battle, but simply because he was an easy ride home. He failed in his task and was not given a second chance.
Being of higher rank than I within the Aht Urhgan Mercenaries, you are no doubt privy to the knowledge of the history of the other Generals. In some cases their previous transgressions were forgivable, but in others, they cost the lives of not only citizens of the Empire, but also of those within employ of the Imperial Army itself.
My previous letter was to inform, not to insult, and I do apologize if there was any perceived insult on my part. As I am now more informed myself, I still stand by my previous request that a Tarutaru General be installed. I will also support the claim that our Tarutaru friend be given another chance to prove his worth. If he is given that chance, then pass or fail, whichever the result may be, I will consider the matter closed.
Fellow Mercenary, if you or any other wish to reply, I will await further response.
