  • SE's made the game brighter?

ok so we all know areas like the dunes are crazy ass bright, but it seems to me that after WotG came out that every area (with sunlight) is really bright... off the top of my head Rulude gardens, bibiki bay, aht urghan/al zahbi and most of the WotG area's... I know its not my comp cause all my other programs are on normal settings, and its not just me cause ive talked to party members about it and they've agreed as well......

..... so anyone else notice this?

Could be the windower. I know the old Archbell windower did this, I doubt SE's would, but it might be worth checking.

I've noticed it seemed brighter in the tunnel areas since I installed WotG, and the Dunes seems to be migraine inflicting lately. But I thought it was just me, glad to know I'm not alone lol.

If you use Archbell's Scripted windower(with plugins) it comes with a dark/light gamma toggle. You probably have it stuck on light.

If you are using the unofficial windower make sure lighting is turned on. I believe the toggle is hotkeyed to F11 by default.

If you are playing in fullscreen or using the official windowed mode then you may have to tweak your gamma settings. I believe SE made a note of this in the update that gave us windowed mode, and recommended these settings.

I remember the first day "official" windower came out, I used it and I remember thinking how bright it all was, so that's quite possibly the case.

But I also remember alt-tabbing and my computer was so bogged down I couldn't do anything while tabbed out, I realized how full of fail it really was.

If you judged based on the first day, you judged too soon. They fixed that second problem just about immediately. However, the official windower still has its failings, including lag in becoming responsive to gamepads again when switched back to and mouse input still designed on the assumption of fullscreen. -- Pteryx
